AVGN or Nostalgia Critic?

I've been on an AVGN binge lately, so I wanna know what you guys think.



Nerd for me. I don't like NC as much as I used to. His older videos were better.

    Been doing the same. I put play all on the nerd episodes the other day and I keep coming back to watch through them.

    I'm guessing this won't be much of a competition, but maybe there are more NC loyalists than I realize. AVGN vs game grumps would be interesting as well.

    I never enjoyed nostalgia critic. I used to watch avgn all the time. Been years though.

    Im in the "NC was better before" camp. Avgn on the other hand, I'm surprised, with all the videos he's done how it just doesn't get old. I saw his new video the other day and thought it was great

    I dunno. I guess hearing the word "fuck" used so flawlessly like that never really gets tiring.

    I'm going to have to say both as well, as they are actually very different in their humor and content.



    I must say I think that AVGN is more hit and miss for me now than he used to be. A lot of the jokes are overwritten, and you can see a lot of what he's going to say and do coming from a mile away. However, he still puts out great stuff, and no one can compare to his back catalog, which remains pretty much the most re-watchable YouTube content I know of.



    Also, I am clearly in a minority here, but I think that NC's stuff has actually gotten better since he came back! I like the way he has evolved his style of commentary over time, and seriously improved the production values. I also really enjoy the scripted parts with his sidekicks, and I think their characters have really developed and shone through over time. I feel like going back and watching the older episodes, of course they are still hilarious, I mean that's why I loved him in the first place, but I totally understand why he had to throw that all away and start again. There's only so much you can do as one guy on your own in front of a blank wall with some computer effects and cameos from your brother, especially now the movie studios take a far harsher stance on use of their video content!



    Also I used to watch GG all the time, but I got tired of them after like 2 years, its all the same, so I don't watch any more. They are still just as good, but I've seen and heard enough.

    Actually, that's one reason I don't like Nostalgia Critic as much now.

    AVGN started good, was great for awhile, kinda phoned it in while shooting the movie, and then got good again.



    NC I have never watched much.

    AVGN is pretty much the only YouTube/etc game series I watch. Despite the language and literally shitting on things, I find him more genuine than most other video game shows on YouTube. There's a lot of episodes where he's not even that angry, he's just himself sharing his own frustrations with various games. He may not know everything, he may be an unabashed Nintendo fan, but at least he fondly remembers the Genesis for being a good NES/SNES competitor.



    As for Nostalgia Critic, I think he made only one angry video game review, for Bebe's Kids on SNES. It was funny, but I don't often get his gun-related style of humor. I've seen a lot of his movie reviews and he tends to be annoying.

    Nostalgia critic just isnt funny at all.



    I can moderately enjoy an avgn video.



    Last video i watched of nostalgia critic was so unfunny it was just annoying. No desire to watch snything else he does. His scripted humor is just the worst.





    but with both i hate subplot side story to the video tie ins.  They just arent funny. Avgns are better than dougs though. Jesus nostalgia critic has gotten horrible







    best video game youtube comedy genre goes to video game dunkey. That dude is fucking hilarious. He has that off the wall non scripted humor or atleast he edits that way. Great comedic timing. He has the natural gift that james and doug dont have. Its a little different though because he makes goofy reviews and commentary. Not serious content. I go to dunkey for a laugh

    Yes........is my response. But AVGN if I have to choose. I like NC but if I haven't watched the content he's reviewing, his videos don't do anything for me.

    Nostalgia critic videos take too long. Something what he does needs to be 10 minutes long tops. I feel like some of his reviews are like 30-45 minutes, might as well be straight commentary at that point. Not that people would watch that either.



    AVGN is genuinely entertaining. I feel like his movies are as long as they need to be, and the parts where he talks about the games is straight interesting sometimes.

    NC isn't very funny IMO.

    James Rolfe's "Board James" series alone puts him head and shoulders above most YouTube content creators.

    I'm surprised he couldn't figure out the Golf game (unless he was just pretending), its not THAT confusing.
