  • Man, the Switch is fast approaching 3 million sales within a couple of months... and people thought the Switch would be a flop   (Well, come people at least.)

I know right! Based on Japans numbers for April we're at 3 million. With NA and Europe probably 3.5ish. Next week I'm sure a big boost will happen depending on supply due to MK8 Deluxe

  • Not surprising to me at all. I do think the system is going to stall out over the summer though with a lack of release titles. I'm buying Mario Kart 8 but I can see a lot of people waiting it out until Mario Odyssey.
  • More folks bought Zelda for the Switch then there are Switch owners.

Yeah, I'm sure some people bought a ME / SE to keep and a regular to play.

I don't know, there are some pretty good titles coming out May, June, July, We'll also see what comes from E3, maybe something to fill the void in september/october. I have faith

Definitely good games on the way. Mario Kart 8, Splatoon 2, Skyrim, Super Mario Odyssey. Im sure we will hear about alot more on the way this summer closer to E3.

  • I have to admit I am really enjoying my switch.

Human resource, puyopuyo, wonderboy, all great pick up and play for 5-20 mins and drop games

So Pokemon Sun and Moon sold more units in 5 months than the Wii U did in its entire life.

  • Not good enough for Wall Street
  • Haha, was about to say the opposite. Its looking good for us stock holders too. Was on a slight decline when the Switch first released but quickly jumped back up. I guess its all relative to how each person views their gains though.
  • so has it already outsold the Wii U?

And how has it sold so many units considering it's just like NES Mini - AKA impossible to even find.
  • Switch sales numbers are weird because they are instantly selling every one they make, so their sales forecast is likely just a manufacturing forecast.

Also shows cancelling the NES classic won't really affect their numbers. A <$30m product can be harder to justify when they expect to make $1b. Of course they could just add $20 to the price and still sell many millions.
  • What was the Wii U at, 13 Million or so lifetime units sold? 10 Million for Switch in the first year would be awesome.

I just meant based on the market's reaction and drop in price today.  I personally think the earnings release seems solid, but I'm not someone who is great at analyzing them.  It's been a fun ride owning Nintendo through the Pokemon Go craze and now the Switch.

Yeah wii u was 13.56 million Life time, wii u first year was 3.5 about lol, if switch can do 10 million in 12 months + the release month of 2.74 million it would be amazing lol. be nearly wii u's life time in a year lol

Didn't this happen with ET too?
  • The Switch is my favorite console since N64. I absolutely love it and it has greatly reinvigorated my love for gaming. Really couldn't be happier with it. I'm leaving for my honeymoon tomorrow and I can't wait to use the Switch in the plane just as advertised!
  • That's a lot of peeps playing BotW - it was a GREAT game!   Keep at it Nintendo.
  • Of course it set Zelda sales numbers, when else has a Zelda game launched with a console, and basically been the only game at that?! It's the Super Mario 64 of the Switch.

There are definitely more Pac Mans than consoles....

  • Happy Happy!
  • There really isn't much of a reason to buy one yet. I'm guessing that most of the Switch owners are people who skipped the Wii U.
