I need bowser and the red shell

  • I think I might pass on these. I got all the Mario Kart 8 ones when they came out, because at the time there wasn't a ton of Nintendo merch being sold. In the past few years though, between amiibo and World of Nintendo, I have way too many Nintendo toys and not nearly enough room for them.

Now if these were Zelda toys, I'd be all over them...
  • And no love for Toad, the bastards.
  • My shelf of random stuffs

  • Anyone able to get multiple sets? I need 3, 5, 6, 7 and 8 I believe. Since I only have 1, 2 and 4.

I'll pay $1 each (that's what they cost at mine...if you can give me picture of the receipt saying how much more they were at yours, I'll pay the difference) so $5 plus...what $4 or so for shipping? And $5 more for time and effort. PM me if you want to do this...

This is the reason I'm apathetic towards them. There's already disproportionately more Mario merch out there than any other game character, and I just don't have the space or love for it.

I will say though, these are remarkably well made for McD's toys.
  • My girlfriend wanted me to pick her up McDonalds at work so I went in and as I was standing there I looked at the toy display and was like "ehhh....fuck yeah!" I'm a boyish enough 30 year old to order a Happy Meal! We don't have kids, so we'd never even seen one of the child size fry containers before. That made us laugh. The box, apple slices packaging, and milk jug all have Mario artwork. I got the 1-up mushroom as the toy and almost got misty eyed when she figured out it makes the 1-up sound effect when you press the button on the bottom. I think of the 8 toys it was the one I would have wanted the most, my restaurant only had that and Bowser. The shell looks pretty cool too though.
  • The last one I got was missing the fries.

    I still don't have Peach.

Chocolate milk has Luigi on it. Regular milk has Mario.
  • My issue has always been with fast food toys was that the toy needs to be a toy, Luigi in a pipe is not a toy, it's an ornament, you couldn't play with that.
  • I have 5 of them so far, and a local mcdonalds took my name for the display, fingers crossed that I get it!

Totally a toy! He has wheels on his belly and when you hit the switch on the pipe he shoots out and rolls. 2 toys even.

Bad example because that one is probably the most toy-like of all I have seen so far. Most are just light/noise makers!

Luigi Launcher is basically a spring-loaded toy car that fires out of a tunnel. I think there was a Hot Wheels or Matchbox "Streaks" (Streekz?) Happy Meal once and this reminds me of it. Those were toy cars with skid plates instead of wheels. I guess they were supposed to be hovercrafts and you launched them by stomping on a foot pump.

  • Not a toy, I'm an action figure guy. Really? Wheels? Come on lol
  • Got Bowswer, Invisible Mario, 1-up and Luigi. All I need is Peach, Red Shell, Yoshi and regular Mario.

Anyone got any extras? Got an extra Weegee and 1up if anyone wants to trade.

I know he has at least one I haven't gotten (Luigi Launcher). I prefer to get them with the meal because it usually substitutes for a much larger meal (portion control) and only costs $3.

I got this one with my daughter's happy meal recently. I didn't know it made sound and we were on our way home. All of the sudden, I start hearing a repeated "whoop, whoop" sound the toy makes and get nervous because it sounds just like the start of a police siren. Took me a second to realize I wasn't getting pulled over

I heard one from the other room, and it definitely sounds like the po-po if you don't know what it is!

Well, they don't call toy cars "toy cars" because they aren't toys.

It sounded like you were complaining that they were just figures that didn't do anything when, well, they do. They may not be "action" figures, but they are closer than many Happy Meal toys by simple virtue of being figures instead of toy cars and the like (pretty sure they did Hot Wheels again recently).

I'm guessing that you don't see many action figures because kids might choke on the small articulating parts and McDonald's doesn't want the liability.
  • Remember the era of licensed Happy Meal Toys in the late 80s / early 90s? Almost every toy was just some bullshit car their in-house designer made (not found in the source material at all), then they stuck a gigantic head of the character and mounted it to the roof of the vehicle.
  • Anyone got a #5, #7 and #8 spare? They're the red shell, see through Mario and Peach.

I've been calling around all the McDonald's near me (and yesterday near where I went when I was out and about!) and I've been really slowly getting them. All my close ones seem to not be changing their stock all that fast. Anyone know when they get new deliveries? Or is it different for every store?

Yesterday I went to the next town over and happened to be near one so I called and sure enough they had Luigi and Bowser! I rushed right over and grabbed them (and an apple pie...OMG I forgot how good those are).

I'm just missing those three. I looked on eBay and for about the price of a full set, I could buy those three...WTF.

I'll be nearby one tomorrow so I hope they have one I'm missing...the red shell seems...rare? Only one was on eBay last I checked. But I'm more interested in Peach and Mario of course.
  • Grabbed Princess Peach yesterday. I'm down to two now...

Is anyone getting multiple copies to have one set open and one set sealed? I'm debating about that right now...I think I at least want two of the light up Mario's.
  • I asked my folks to pick up a set of these for me, and my mom is trying to get them all for me. My brother is also trying to go for a set. So far my mom was able to grab Mario, Peach, and Bowser for me, she wants to get me Yoshi and Luigi as well at the minimum, and hopefully the other three as well. I think these toys might make it over to Taiwan in the future, that seems to be the trend, send the leftover stuff over here and market it months / years later, lol. Either way, I am excited about this and I think my brother was excited that I mentioned these to him, when I saw about them on NA.

I used to get this stuff for myself, but I later realized that I just didn't do anything but display it, and saw no point, so I then started taking them into the classroom, and the kids absolutely love this stuff, understandably. I know I would have loved it if my kindergarten / elementary school teachers would let me with Mario toys, and then talk about the games and characters as well (and not just on a superficial level, rather on a "I love those characters and games too" level)
  • I have multiples for everything except I don't have a single peach or red shell.
  • What's really cool about McDonald's toy for collectors is that these have always been so mass produced, that they never gain in value. So, if you want an original Nintendo set from the 80s, its probably not going to cost you more than $25-35. If you liked remember the set of transformer-inspired food items? Yeah, those were awesome and cheap too. How about the Looney Tunes super heroes-- should be dirt cheap.

If you enjoy collecting for the sake of collecting, McDonald's toys could consume a TON of your time. There's just so many of them and none are really hard to find or acquire at reasonable prices.

Not directly related. Anyone here from the UK? I spent some time in the UK back in 2000 and I went to a McDonald's there just for the international/American experience. At the time the toy was a Snoopy toy, but it stood about 10" (20cm) tall, and seemed to be well made! It was the largest McDonald's toy I'd ever seen and we get nothing like that state side. Are the toys you get in your Happy Meals always of that caliber?
  • Got Mario,Luigi and Bowser. Plus knowing one of the managers at the local McDonalds gonna get the rest of the set plus the display.
  • Got two light up Mario's today. I called around again to locate them since I don't want to go to every damn one in my area. One of them said something along the lines of "Oh we already had that one" when I asked about the red shell. I thought it was #8? Wondering if there really is no order to what comes out.

I also asked about the milk jugs...seems that was a limited time thing.

I'm not above going to eBay for the red shell but I'd rather not spend $5+ on something that costs $1.50 here.

And on the topic of old McDonalds toys...oh man there are some sets I have my eyes on. The food transformers for one, the Disney VHS ones (both of them, the one on wheels and the ones off), the dress up chicken nuggets, the 100 years of Disney ones and of course the video game related ones. I have several of the transformers, two of the Disney VHS wheel ones, two naked chicken nuggets and a few Mario related ones.

I miss the older toys...this series of Mario toys are the first in a LONG time that have felt like the older ones...like they're actually quality toys and not cheap junk that will break if you look at it funny. I hope this means they're going to start having more quality toys...or at least toy series that are of interest.
  • Got the complete set, according to my folks!
  • My son got a Luigi and a Bowser. But we're not really trying for them.

Actually, these are already here in Taiwan, been in my local McDonalds for at least a couple of weeks! We got our son the Luigi, and it's pretty fun, but now the pipe is lost... Game Over, I guess, lol!

Nice, thanks for the heads up!  Last week I had peered through a McDonalds when I had gone by, and I had seen Hello Kitty, but I must have not looked close enough to see Mario!  It's nice to see so many Mario-themed toys.

Yeah, I passed by there yesterday and they had both the hello kitty and Mario stuff. I guess they might be phasing the Mario toys out now in favor of hello kitty, but actually I'm not too bothered about acquiring them. They are probably the best Mario toys I've seen at McDonald's, but I'm not big on game related tat, lol!
  • I may have a few extra empty milk jugs. I also have 0 red shells and need one extra mushroom still.
