I saw an advertisement on facebook for

I'm guessing these games are illegal roms stuffed into a cheap system. Just wanted to check with all of you, because I would LOVE LOVE to be able to play classic arcade games like this (but I don't want to support thieves).

-Darksoft's CPS2 Multikit, for CPS2 games, tons of Capcom fighters starting from Super Street Fighter II onward, some nice shooters & beat'em ups.
-NeoSD for Neo Geo MVS (arcade) or AES (home console) games.
Both are expensive, but there's also a bootleg 161 in 1 Neo Geo MVS that it's relatively cheap and works OK, and I know that there are bootleg X in 1 CPS2 boards out there too that I'd imagine would be cheaper that Darksoft's.
BTW there are flashcart like alternatives for a couple of arcade systems that I know of, you'd need a jamma arcade machine, supergun, or in case of Neo Geo you could use a consolized MVS system:

there's flash carts for jamma? How much will a decent supergun, plus one of those cost me?

That's exactly what this is.

Yeah, well those two are just for specific hardware systems, CPS2 is a capcom hardware system kind of similar to the Neo Geo MVS in which the games are interchangeable from the system, all games run in the same hardware so they've developed flash carts for those.
Unless I'm missing something, anything else that runs a lot of arcade games is basically a MAME machine, even if it has a JAMMA edge, nothing wrong with that I think those are very convenient, but it's not running on real hardware.
No idea on what a supergun costs, NeoSD goes for about $400 I think, Darksoft's CPS2 Kit I saw it was for sale in some online shop at $325 but it shows at out of stock, don't know if you can get it elsewhere, this kit was a bit cumbersome, I wouldn't recommend it unless you know what you're getting into, however NeoSD is just like the flash carts that we know, the cheap alternative is the 161 in 1 which costs about $70 shipped from China.
I was planning to do this but with a Raspberry Pi running Retro Pi and shove it into an iCade housing...tabletop gaming on the cheapish and doesn't take up a shit ton of room.
It's somewhat easy if you have a higher IQ then I do...and can do basic wiring for the controls. Tons of tutorials online for this sort of thing...even on Youtube. So you don't have to buy one, you can make one.
