Just recently made a new friend. Found out he's started out retro collecting a few months ago. First game we played, Cel Damage for the GC. Not exactly the worst game ever, but compared to games like Twisted Metal it's lacking. Had some fun with it, but I imagine I'll never go back to it.
Eh... Cosmic Ark. It's not terrible but there are much better games out there. As for modern stuff... Probably Puyo Puyo Tetris. Got some more time in it today but I'm not a huge fan. I just suck at both games.
Sorry to hear that, especially since it was one of the games I recomended. I still enjoy that game, but obviously it's not for everyone. I enjoyed it because I felt like it keeps you on your toes. Definitely not a game if you want to relax.

It's not a bad game, it's just not as good as other things I've been obsessed with. I had fun while I was playing it but I definitely have put more time into Galaxian, Vanguard, and Kaboom! this weekend. I made it through quite a few waves of Cosmic Ark, actually.
Probably Everything (aka the game is named Everything)
I get that it's supposed to be artsy, but in reality, just kinda boring tech demo. I guess I didnt reach the grand nirvana of introspection I was supposed to.

Well there's your problem. A lot of games become less "fun" if you just got done playing Galaxian.

I almost bought it the other day. I knew it wasn't the best game, but the copy was mint and I love the cell shaded graphics.

I picked up a copy on Friday and spent a lot of time with it. It's fun for the most part, and works better than I thought it would. But the online "matchmaking" is practically non-existent. In the ranked modes I always get matched with someone waaaayy over my level. Haven't won yet as a result.
But yeah, if you're not a fan or not good at that style of puzzle game, it's not gonna make you one.
Yeah, right now I'm mainly just doing the Adventure trying to get better at them. But oh my god the story is so tedious, ha. It's like 5 minutes of dialog for every 5 minutes of play.
Yeah, definitely not a strong point. I love how the solution to everything, from something so trivial as "I need to blow off some steam" to something more important like "We need to find a part for the spaceship" is having a Puyo/Tetris battle.

The gameplay is very fun especially in smaller doses but I tend to just scroll through the dialog very quickly because I agree it's very annoying and unnecessary.
Yeah... I can't just skip over a story, if it's there I force myself to see it through. I've been speed reading this one, though, since they basically keep saying the same crap over and over. I think I'm on the third act right now?
NES Super Turrican. there's a lot of potential for a awesome game but the scrolling absolutely kills it. there's no way to see anything coming with enough time to react.
Probably Everything (aka the game is named Everything)

If you played the developer's first "game", Mountain, I think you would have tempered your expectations. He's just an expert at dumping weird stuff into the Unity engine.
Toxic Crusaders. I have no idea what the hit detection is in that game.
I've also seen it considered an easy game many times but I can't even beat the first boss with what little time I've put into it. I suck at beat em ups, but that one especially kicks my ass.
I've recently downloaded APB on the PS4 since I've been wanting to play it for years.
Being that it was free, I can't really say it was bad. Actually, I quite enjoyed it. My only gripe isn't really the games fault: I have bad internet so the constant lag made it a little unplayable in parts, and my HD TV blew up so now all I got to play on is a flat screen 4:3 with a converter (which makes text unreadable). lol
Wow, I can't believe APB is on PS4 either. I played it a little when they re-launched it in 2011 after the original game died in less than a year. I would've figured the entire game was dead and buried by now considering its disastrous history. That's pretty impressive that it came out on a console after all this time.
After all the other "remastered," GOTYEs" and "fully loaded" editions of games we've been getting, I'm almost *not* surprised we have APB re-re-(re?)released.
The Talos Principle. I'd been wanting it for a while and it was finally on sale with DLC, so I figured I'd finally plop down for it. The reviews made it seem like I'd be getting a Portal-tier puzzle game with perhaps a more philosophy angled story... but instead it's basically the same boring mechanics reused constantly with a really heavy-handed Judeo-Christian subplot with a story told through way too long to sit down and read emails. The developers obviously didn't know anything about story pacing or even getting the player interested in the world before dumping a ton of it on you. I've played through one of three (4?) worlds and I just can't really find it in me to boot it back up.
The areas are huge and your character moves pretty slowly. In general, it just isn't as fun of a game to run around in as Portal. It's a little unfair that I keep going back to Portal as my frame of reference, but... It's a first person puzzle game. Also there are collectables hidden in the most obtuse places possible. I actually had to break the game to get three of them. I'm not against breaking a game to get cool bonuses, but at least make it obvious that I'm supposed to break the game.
For some reason, I thought it was one I asked my fiance for for Christmas. So, the other day I'm like "I'm going to play this alien game. The cover looks badass."
I can't recall WHY I thought I asked for it (I definitely didn't and she didn't get it for me) and I have no idea where I actually got it. I certainly did NOT buy it on it's own merit.
So I fired it up.... and man am I sorry I did.
This game is a grade A piece of bullshit. I'm angry it's even in my house. This game doesn't deserve the plastic it's housed in. Nor does it deserve to be on the shelf. I think I will pack it away into a box out of spite.
So disappointing. I mean... I wasn't expecting much. But hot damn... this game is worthless.
Tumbleseed on Switch. I was really looking forward to it because it looked fun and interesting. But it is hard as fuck. Hard to the point where I can't even enjoy it, kind of like Battletoads.
That's a bummer. Thats one I was looking forward too. Not really surprised to hear its hard. Ice cold beer is already hard, and thats just a ball and a bunch of holes... don't have additional distractions like creatures and clouds and bushes and stuff.

It's one of the worst arcade ports for the NES I've come across and that's saying a lot after Bad Dudes and a few others.

I love that game, I don't appreciate your opinion.

I am pissed right off this game is so bad.

I saw a GameSack video a week or two ago that said Xenophobe was a decent port on NES and that the SMS was way worse. Never played it myself, though.
Those people need to be Gamesacked right in the balls! It's a TERRIBLE TERRIBLE game.
SMS?
Please go buy it (Xenophobe) so you can confirm my findings.
Actually, no, I don't want more people buying this game. Could cause a massive price hike! haha...
