Don't Do Business With Nick T. of Etobicoke Ontario

Hi, everyone. I've come to this board to warn its community about a scammer named Nicholas T who lives in Etobicoke Ontario. He used the username videogamehoarder1991 when he was a member of this forum and he currently calls himself stapler_60 and sarebear445 on Ebay (he has a minimum of two accounts). He's been ripping people off left and right on Ebay by making false claims about items he's received and oddly, despite many complaints, Ebay has yet to remove him from their website. I'd advise any of you who use Ebay to block stapler_60 and sarebear445 immediately so this thief can't add you to his list of victims.

  • Don't post an actual photo. If other members are so inclined, they have his name and online alias, so they can do all the digging.

Sorry to hear about this, though. People suck but that's how it goes nowadays.
  • Interesting, I have chatted with Nick a couple times, he has a whack of decent stuff, and isn't far from me.

Haven't settled a deal personally, but I think he has bought from me at swaps over the years.

He gets his "decent stuff" by scamming sellers on Ebay. I'd advise you to check out stapler_60's feedback before you deal with him again.

  • No do not post any personal info here
  • Honestly, I've never heard so many mixed opinions about one collector before. It's like 90% of people swear by him as being a good guy. But the other 10% want to come and burn his collection.

    **edit**

Yeah it's confirmed, after talking to a few more people i'm convinced.

Guy has a sick collection though, I'll give him that

This is usually the case with these scammers. Perhaps he is too afraid to try this stuff with peope in real life. He might only scam those people he doesn't know who live far enough away to do anything about it.

  • Thanks for the heads up. Yeah, nothing more than the screen name info is sufficient.
  • He's not been active here since 2012
  • Thanks for letting us know. It's a shame people have to be scummy.
  • Yeah, seems like a class act. Thanks for the heads up, added him to my 20+ blocked buyer list.

OP should just make the picture his avatar with the signature: "My avatar is of a scammer" lol

  • Google searches show a certain individual who may or may not have relevance with this thread, in the same Ontario town, has been arrested for felonies. If that is not a complete coincidence then I say karma has already taken care of it

edit:  Along with another arrest for fleeing the cops and then wrapping his car around a tree

    Winning.
  • Ok thanks Deb.
  • Hey y'all, I 100% back the OP and advise against dealing with this POS tub of lard. I had done a few deals with him to the tune of a few hundred USD via gift payments without issues. On our last deal we had agreed on a partial cash / trade. He bought about 1000$ worth of items from me, paying 700$ in cash and the rest of the payment was supposed to be a CiB Oscar for snes. I was trusting to someone I had some business with enough to mail his items out prior to receiving the Oscar even though he claimed it was in transit. Never did get my Oscar and he stopped using the EBAY ID shortly after.

I never bothered to warn the community because the HOS was taken down, but I'm glad I was able to share my exiperences.

He also had the eBay user IDs

Nightowl- ( with a couple numbers in there)

And he was selling stuff last week like a CIB super copa and smoke grey CiB n64 under the user ID " tooKoolforSkool" and some numbers

MOD EDIT: Do not post personal information or encourage harassment, even if a potential scammer.
  • What ever happened to the Hall of Shame?

Oh no, I am in this thread from about the same Ontario town, I hope it isn't me...

    A) Trafficked

    B) Wrapped your car around a tree fleeing the police?

it's a lot of work to maintain and redundant when we have a solid feedback system. If you have a bad deal, leave bad feedback. If you're buying from or selling to someone, check feedback.

If it's a shitty deal via something business-wise, it's best to leave personal info out. Business ≠ Personal life. It's a matter of business, so nothing personal should come of it.

As to why, mainly because the internet itself likes to set harm to people who aren't involved, just to get to the person that is. Despite the guy being a scumbag, it wouldn't be okay for his family who aren't a part of the equation to be crucified because of it.

That seems highly debatable, especially when his "business" is to screw you over

To be completely honest, I really wish we did still have a HoS for eBay sellers/buyers. The block list that was created in the HoS was a great way to filter bad dealings.

While it was a lot of work to maintain, there could've been some cut backs from it (i.e., stop caring about tire kickers/time wasters or slow shippers) to streamline it and keep the real shitty people in that spotlight. The biggest failure (maybe not failure so much as a lack of discretionary caution?) IMO was letting the thread remain open for discussion and having people post publicly there, rather than just PM the HOS Master account the issues. I'm sure having to remind people to keep their mouths shut, cleaning up posts, all while dealing with the issue didn't help things in the slightest.

Maybe the Mods would be up for a reform of some kind? I'd be more than happy to assist with that and figure out a solid solution that works out for everyone.
  • So, whatever happened to the HOS thread/post?

Removed once the HOS stopped being a thing.
  • Perhaps bring it back and focus on scammers as opposed to time wasters, and dedicate a mod specifically to nurturing it?

Shouldn't be debatable though. You can call the scum a shitty person, warn everyone that he's in the business to screw you over, but once you make the attempt by giving out personal information where many other innocent people get hurt by association (because again, the internet is bat-shit crazy), then it's not cool.

We can't play by North Korea rules here, we've got to be the better person in situations like these.

Wouldn't it be like getting ripped off by a shoplifter taking $1000 in goods out of your store, and publishing the security cam footage?

I mean, I think I see what you're saying;  like anon using DoS attacks on a parent's store's website or something (as an extreme example)

It's perfectly reasonable to want to warn friends and other members about a potential scammer, but it is NOT ok to share their personal information here and encourage people start going vigilante on him or send him any messages (this message isn't directly to you Brock but a general message).  We can't control what people do with their free time off here - so if someone wants to look someone up and communicate with them or avoid them, that is their prerogative, but we do not condone or encourage people to start going after someone or harassing them, for any reason, whether it is because they made a hurtful comment, scammed someone, or whatever else.  Sharing personal information (above and beyond basic, relevant information such as ebay user id's, etc) publicly only gets people involved unnecessarily and doesn't really help anything.

I think there is enough information already here that people have gotten the warning and can take the information as they see fit.  Additional information such as facebook, address information, photos, etc., is completely unnecessary and can cause many problems down the road.

We do not need a NintendoAge "Most Wanted" list with photos and information on people.  I realize some people would find something like that useful but there are too many potential problems and it is not what this site is about.
