Where to find sanely priced NES/SNES games?
Hi everyone. Glad to be here so I can get everyone's opinions on this.
Where does a person buy reasonably priced NES/SNES game these days?
Ebay is super expensive. Buying straight up is generally overpriced. You might win a bid at a great price but shipping prices are ridiculous (often starting at $19+ for a single game).
Flea markets are a waste of time since they're filled with resellers. Even if there's a seller that just wants to get rid of his or his sons "junk" video game collection that's been sitting in his garage for 20 years, a reseller will buy up all his merchandise before the place even opens so flea markets aren't an option these days either.
Garage sales are probably the best bet to deal with reasonable people and to find cheap games, but they're only limited to certain times of the year and many professional resellers hit'em all up before you even get a chance so it's a losing battle there too.
Where can you find cheap retro games? Is that even possible? Have resellers ruined this hobby? Do we have to wait until the retro gaming bubble pops? Prices have flatlined according to pricecharting.com for several months but they're still high and the market is still filled with sharks.
Where's a guy supposed to go to get reasonably price games these days? Should I buy an everdrive and be done with it?
Cheers!

I wouldn't expect to find stuff for cheap anymore.
As Toxie stated though, don't expect them to be "cheap" by any means. You can typically get 10% or so off ebay averages, but the market value is still the market value, so expect to pay somewhere around there.

yes.
I bought $350 on ~15 games from him a few years back if you count shipping and import fees. I felt really stupid for doing that but the selection was good and you get everything in one place.
I can try to snipe a few good deals from different ebay sellers but I find that it costs as much if not more in the end doing this, especially when you count shipping. Plus it's a giant hassle.
Not repping lukie here, but I thought I'd ask about him. If he's good to buy from should I order directly off his site or do it through ebay?
Or do you guys know anyone else on Ebay? Should I just buy an everdrive and be done with it?
I feel his prices are much better and he puts up photos of the actual game you are getting.

Welcome
The answers are:
- Nowhere
- Yes
I hate to sound so grim, but it isn't a cheap hobby, and there are no cheap "last of the unplucked gems" places to go anymore. The flea market isn't the hot ticket anymore, that's probably one of the more expensive places to go. Goodwill charges eBay+ prices. The days of Contra for $5 are over, and are not coming back. If shelves full of expensive video games doesn't appeal to you, yes, an Everdrive is absolutely the way to go.
Yes, get an Everdrive. It's just as good as having every cart, except less clutter, more money in your pocket. The only negative is not having the beauty of the physical carts, but the positive outweighs the negative for me.
Lukie Games is good price wise but you also don't know what you are getting so I would rather go with JJgames.com
I feel his prices are much better and he puts up photos of the actual game you are getting.
Thanks I'll check it out!
Anyone good sellers from Canada?

Not of any online sites that I am aware of.

Imagine if resellers weren't taking games out of the attics of Nowhere, Alabama and putting them on Ebay for everyone worldwide to purchase. Resellers are keeping the hobby easy! Collecting random thrift store games only instead of getting what you actually want online would be no fun.
Spend some time around here, get to know folks and deals will fall into place.
Question is, where do I get it from?
Is this the official company that makes them?
http://krikzz.com/store/home/31-everdrive-n8-nes.html
Is it worth buying from here? $160 American ($220 CAD) is very pricey but it comes with a case and a memory card.
https://everdrive.online/collections/nintendo-nes/products/nes-everdrive-n8-ultimate-edition
Should I be worried about Everdrive knockoffs? You can see some everdrive for $120Cad with free shipping and a memory card but is it legit?
http://www.ebay.ca/itm/Everdrive-N8-Nintendo-NES-8-gb-Sd-Card-/132187017923?hash=item1ec6f5d2c3
I think I'll go with the everdrive then.

Krikzz created EverDrive. He also makes a superior "SD2SNES" based on an open-source spec.
I ordered a bunch of EverDrives and an SD2SNES from krikzz.com on Black Friday. They took a while to arrive from Ukraine, but they arrived and all is great.
The offical USA distributor is Stone Age Gamer.

So you're from Canada? Your profile says Alabama lol. I was wondering why you said shipping from Ebay was expensive but I guess that would explain it.
But to your original question, there's no one particular place that still sells games cheap. That was only back when the current retro consoles were first dying out (mid to late 90's). Nowadays you need to hustle and try new things all the time to game the system in order to find cheap games. It is possible! Though not many can afford the time and effort to put in the work necessary.
For me, the easiest sure fire way to get games for cheap is buy big lots that might include one or two games you wanted. Keep those and resell off the rest. Of course it requires a sizable up front cost, but after reselling you will almost always get the games you wanted for significantly less than their market value, and sometimes even for free if you part out the other games.
Other than that regular and well timed stops at the thrift stores, flea markets, garage sales, and using Facebook groups still work but just not as often as they used to.

he's a new member, I'm pretty sure Alabama is the default. I usually assume if they're new and it says Alabama, that it's incorrect

Heh, that didn't cross my mind. Makes sense though, first state alphabetically.
Looks like I'll be getting an Everdrive then.
Don't mind buying from Stoneage gamer but the box cover art is not to my liking:
This is what I would like and another site is selling this case too, but I'm not sure if they're reputable.
I have empty game cases at home so if anyone has any Everdrive N8 box art pics similar in size to the ones on coverproject I'd really appreciate it

One of which is based in Canada:

I haven't ordered from them though, so I can't give a recommendation. I have bought all my Everdrives from:
https://shop.retrogate.com/
Good seller, just slow to ship is all. They do the Black Friday sale just like krikzz.com. I remember retrogate used to be the main seller of Everdrives, before there was a krikzz.com.
