Weirder stuff definitely, but sillier... Nah this was pretty ridiculous

    This one comes to mind

Or anything posted by tubeway. Have you seen his threads?

I got the sense PatrickM was desperate to beat as many games as possible, but wanted to rationalize any he couldn't beat as "unplayable."

PatrickM......My God, I got into it a few times with him over the whole emulator, practice bullshit etc.

I don't mean to derail anything but I am curious... What was it you got into it with him about?  Are you anti-emulator?  Or was it more along the lines of don't say you beat again when you're save stating/you can't say it's easy when you use save states?  Or neither.

I sent you a PM about it.

  • Yeah, I read and responded. We can keep it there. Thanks!
  • The cheapest way to get a complete set is to steal someone else's complete set without getting caught. Boom. /end topic

This is actually a really cool idea and I'm surprised more people don't do something like this.

    I agree.

Does he really just like the spine art? He'd have a non-collection collection that he couldn't even see! At least all the poster ideas, you'd be able to actually see the box art!

Are they all going to be facing out and taking a shit ton of wall space? That would be an insane amount of area to cover.

Why don't you tell me how big my house is Mr Bob Villa.

First, how about you tell us whether you are British or uneducated, lol.

    Here's a real solution

You can buy your favorite CiB games, ya know, like the ones you think are the prettiest and most fun. Then you can display them front facing on a shelf like at the video stores of yore. That way you fill shelves faster, look at art and have your favorite games.

But here's the deal friend, you're gna have to pay for this shit otherwise you can't have it. That's how the crazy Daisy world works but money is a medium to possessions, even repossession eerrr I mean reproductions. So at some.point you're going to have to pay the piper if you want the sauce. Bc all of us who have the sauce either fought the boss or paid that moss.

Could probably do it for $50.

Whatever a frying pan, burlap sack and a cinder block costs.

Sounds like items for a side quest in The Secret of Monkey Island

    First reaction, same as Quaze

To the OP.... do your thing?

700+ empty boxes as a goal is interesting. But facing them all out would take up a lot of space. "Because you like the art" is a good excuse, but printing out all the games and getting that many cases and enough shelf space to face them all first just seems like an extra step for nothing when you should be out spending your time/resources on getting the actual boxes.

If you don't want the actual boxes and are just printing out all the games and putting them into plastic boxes, that seems like a big waste of time, energy, and space.

If you've got the room, make the wallpaper as suggested above. Even with the boxes. Just prepare yourself and visitors for disapointment when they try to grab any game.

I don't think this thread would be have near a Mega Shit Storm if you were like "Hey everyone... I like the cover art for NES games and want to look at it all the time (But I can't/don't want to actually get all the boxes. I'm going to make giant posters/wallpaper showcasing every game's box art for my game room."

(You could even re-size it and get it/them framed for a house even Bob Villa would approve.)

I think the empty box thing is where you went wrong.

Actually that's a good reminded for the "Weirdest Video Game Character Name" thread. What the hell kinda name is Guybrush Threepwood?

  • Just do what this guy did.

Actually that gives me an idea. What about one big poster with every box cover collaged on it? Like they did with Nintendo Power
  • I really like Quaze's posters.

    Those came out really nice.
  • At this point, it would be cheaper to engineer time travel technology, go back to 1997, and start at your local FuncoLand.
  • ... seems like a waste of space to me. Whatever floats your boat.
