Reminds me of a security outfit I worked with briefly. We hadn't been paid for the previous several weeks, and they still expected us to keep showing up for work, namely a bigger concert they had coming up.
"I can't speak for everyone but instead of contacting you individually you should just go ahead and send all of us our pay stubs. It's safe to assume we all want them. And it's Federal law that you provide them."

Did you?
Nope. I don't think anybody did.
Second shadiest outfit I ever worked for. The most shady was a bar that was owned by a shyster (I knew he was a bullshitter, but didn't realize to what extent). I at least got paid the whole time, it just came to an abrupt end when the bank changed the locks on the doors.
The building he was renting was in foreclosure at the time, and he magically assumed he didn't need to make rent payments I guess?

But yeah, that festival was a whole shit show from what I've read.

"Do we have to worry about the FBI?"
"If we're not fired, we can't get unemployment." CEO: "I'll have to look into that."
The phone call is fantastic. If you haven't listened to it yet, you really should.

I loved the reference to them talking to their lawyers in the article.
They must have the worst lawyers in the world to convince them that this was an acceptable course of action.
Wow.... she's fucking pissed.
