I am Setsuna music on NPR commercial?

90% sure I heard one of I am Setsuna's piano melodies on a NPR commercial for one of their own shows about an increase in women dying during labor in the US.  Would Square license out music like that?  Thought it was strange.

  • They sample all kinds of crazy stuff, so it wouldn't surprise me.

I doubt they do their licensing as tied to any specific segment, though.

Rather it's probably just by show.
  • Not as weird as music from Robocop on the gameboy being used to sell appliances.

  • I was surprised to hear the Megaman 2 intro/titlescreen played on NPR one morning a few years back. Not in any weird context though, it was actually a very short segment about videogame music.
  • I always enjoy the odd samples they use for their short cuts. Someone must be getting really creative at work.

Well in europe, Robocop was one of the best selling games thanks to it's ZX Spectrum version which created this song.  If you know many UK retro gamers you'll end up hearing about it sooner or later.

I was thinking the C-64 version of the game was one of the games you can't beat because they never finished it, so they made a level's timer so short there was no way to beat the game.  (But if you cheat and glitch through a wall as a shortcut, you see the next level is unfinished)

  • And Ariston. LOL
