This game, along with The Empire Strikes Back and Return of the Jedi, was also included as an unlockable extra in the Nintendo GameCube game Star Wars Rogue Squadron III: Rebel Strike. In the United States and some European countries, customers could get the GameCube version of the game for free when they pre-ordered Rebel Strike.
Ya also not helpful.. is that the arcade game i played on 32x or the vector one? Plus does it come with every gamecube game or is there a special edition
It's unlockable on the regular Gamecube game and it is the 1983 version of the game and not the 32x version. Just need to beat the Death Star Escape on any level and it will unlock.

I believe it got an Atari 2600 port (but then... it's on the Atari 2600) and I think they were also a few ports on 80's microcomputers... in Europe.
However it isn't impossible that the C64 version was released in the US.
And if you don't mind having to unlock it then I'd go with the GameCube version

32X version is a sort of deluxe remake in flat-shaded polygon graphics instead of being vector-based. It's a real shame the 32X developer didn't include a wireframe mode or something.

My, such language.
To be clear, i did google it, looking for someone with knowledge
Wikipedia - Pre-orders for the game included a bonus disc featuring several game demos, trailers, a playable version of the original Star Wars arcade game (which can also be unlocked in the main game) and a Rebel Strike art gallery.

Looks like the original arcade game to me.

You're just proving my point that you're an a-hole with posts like these. If you still want to be part of this community, start respecting other people (and especially moderators) and cut your trolling. If you only come here to be disrespectful to everyone else then you're not welcome here and you'll eventually get shown the door. Just saying...
Also, if you want to carry on this conversation, do it through PMs, you've already thread-crapped enough on this thread

Don't back peddle. You come to this forum to shit all over. Man up and admit it or you'll keep getting g called out by someone.
As stated, the one on Atari 2600 is pretty close but I really hate the controls on that one.
Colecovision had a good one, too.

I've got it for the 2600 and Colecovision. The 2600 version looks pretty spot on, but the controls are pretty awkward (slow to respond & clunky, not the controller itself). The Colecovision version is fairly awesome, but the controllers (at least all of mine, regular & super) are too stiff to have as much fun with it as you should. I've seen reviews on the 5200 version and based on looks alone, seems to be as close to a 1:1 port as you can get without having an actual vector monitor to play it on; the 5200 controller, though, is supposed to be garbage, so it likely also suffers from bad controls/controllers.
I wasn't aware until I saw this thread that there was an Apple II version of the game. Since it's not in the video linked later in this thread, I'll have to see if I can get my hands on a copy and get my IIe or IIc to cooperate enough to record some footage for comparison.

Swap controllers. Colecovision is compatible with Atari 2600 joysticks and Sega Genesis controllers.

I don't like the Atari controls because up and down are inverted while left and right are normal. It's really confusing at first and you have to get used to it.
That's how a ton of games in the playstation/gamecube/ps2 eras were. A lot of the games I played as a youngling were this way wity no way to change it. Therefore I play everything with inverted and hope the day never comes where they stop giving us a choice of inverted or naw.

Really? Somehow, I never read that anywhere. I assume you do this after using the numeric pad to select which game difficulty level you want to play at? Or is there another way to go through the in-game menus (a pass through device w/keypad, using controller #2's keypad [which I've sadly never tried], etc.)?

I grew up in a household that had PCs long before it was common or popular, so I was raised playing flight simulators of various flavors. As in a real plane, back (down) makes you go up and forward (up) makes you go down. Anything else is blasphemy! Inverted for life!

Yeah, I'm okay with everything inverted. Down + Left takes you up and right. This game is Down + left takes you up and left. Really confusing.
