Burn .mp4 to playable DVD -how?

This is as off-topic as it gets.

I've got a bunch of .mp4 movies on my computer (for example, the newest MST3K episodes) that I would like to burn to DVD - as a playable DVD in a DVD player, not just as data.

I thought this would be simple, but it's apparently the most complicated thing in the universe.

There's a lot of software you can Google, but I'm afraid of it being scammy virus-ware, or, at best, putting a watermark on the video.

If there was a trustworthy software that everyone uses, that would be different...

Windows DVD Burner will take a variety of movie files, but not .mp4.

I tried using VLC to convert to an .avi or .mpg or whatever, and then putting that in DVD Burner, but it doesn't work (DVD Burner rejects it).

Ideally, I'd just like to burn as a DVD .iso though.

As a possible added complication, I only have Vista on my computers. Although I could have access to Windows 10 if I had to.

Somebody must have good solution...

???

  • Thanks!

By the way, I'm not pirating anything, I own the new season of MST3K legally and any other mp4's are already mine. (Just to be clear!)
  • It's been quite some time since I regularly used Windows, but back in those days, Nero always seemed to get the job done. I could recommend a plethora of great, simple to use OS X apps, but Nero is the only rock solid option I can provide for Windows. Good luck!
  • DVD Flick was designed exactly for this purpose. I think it's free, haven't used it in a while, but just burns any file onto a disc for dvd players.
  • Hey thanks guys!

A few people recommended DVD Flick, so I tried it and it worked!

Except.... the first time, after I burned the DVD, the audio was a second or two out of sync... WTF??

So I Googled and saw it's a very common issue with DVD Flick. The fix is to find a setting, hidden deep down, called "Ignore audio delay for this track" and click the box.

(For anybody who needs to know, Edit title > Audio Tracks tab > Edit)

Why the hell is this even a thing? Why doesn't it just sync the audio by default? Who knows?

Anyhow, once I did that and burned ANOTHER disc, it's fine!
