I'm just a gamer at heart I guess, but I'm not going to shell out 450 to 600$ for a shitty game like Zombie Nation. I buy them to play them not buy them to say "ooh look at what I got!"
You actually enjoy Indy Ubisoft?
Maybe im the only one, but I really enjoy indy ubisoft. Beat it once. Its insanely rewarding. Beat it again. Its much easier when you know all of the potential pitfalls, but still insanely rewarding. It also covers the major scenes/story of the movie well to give it the nostalgia factor. I beat ubi over and over again, but taito hasnt kept my interest enough to play more than a level or two. And I gave it plenty of tries. Crazy to say as Im a huge taito fan, but its a good time! Helps a lot too to get the whip and then the gun.
Yeah it's alright, Ive only played the ubisoft version of it. It's not like I shelled out 125$ like they're asking for it now which I would never ever pay. I play the young Indiana Jones chronicles more than anything. Cheap and fun and has quite some skill to beat.
Young indy is the only indy game I dont have. Missed out on a couple auctions and moved on to other holes in the collection. Good reminder i still need to get it and hearing its a fun game to play moves it way up the priority list.

Yeah it's the best of the franchise but I wouldn't pay more than 45$ for it. It's one of those games that goes up and down month to month on price. That just my personal opinion anyway....
There's some great ones to be had in the under 100$ range but even in loose condition sometimes it's a gamble. Like I kinda shot myself in the foot on Shatterhand. I ended up paying 75$ for it because I wanted it so bad and didn't want to fuck with the auctions on eBay. Now I see people selling that game left and right in the 45 to 50$ range.
Rule of Rose (a ways to go) but definitely headed upwards
PS1:
I can name a lot of games headed for 400-500 but nothing even close to 1000.
I'd be interested in what PS1 games you think could hit the $400 - 500 range. I've got all the expensive stuff already and don't see anything like Team Buddies, Tron Bonne, or Klonoa ever getting that high. If your talking about something like the assassin case for elemental gearbolt that's already well over 1000.
I personally don't look at the assassin's case as anything more than a promo item. But the titles to name a few off the top of my head that have potential are: (And I'm not predicting or suggesting they ever will hit 400 dollars, just speculating on the way things have gone) Psychic detective longbox Shadow tower Koudelka Rtype delta Klonoa Tail concerto To name a few
I dont see these ever getting to $400, not in any opened condition. Closest chance will be Klonoa maybe. Delta will never surpass Einhander as the more valuable Shmup. Koudelka, Shadow Tower, I dont see it. PD is rare, but so are many more popular LB's.
Zombie Nation is a good NES candidate. Currently worth over 100x its market value from 10 years ago, it's not unreasonable to assume it'll double in another 4-5. By that time it may not be the only one to eclipse $1000, as others have mentioned some good examples already.
Your gif avi from the Separate Ways video has me dying over here, man.

R-Type Delta has already supassed einhander in the last couple months actually.
It took Action Comics #1 like 75 years to hit $1M, and almost a century for T206 Honus Wagner to hit $1M. Celebrity millionaires like Wayne Gretzky and Nic Cage were buyers for that stuff and they didn't even pay 1M+ for their copies. Hollywood turns out lots of multi-millionaires but the most iconic movie props ever still rarely sell for crazy money like that (The Maltese Falcon did though).
If the industry keeps churning out unlikely young multi-millionaires like Notch, Palmer Luckey, Richard Garriott, etc. I can see a world a few decades or a century down the line where someone ends up paying $1M for some iconic piece of gaming history. Richard Garriott spent $30m to go to space for two weeks. Imagine the damage that guy could do to the market if he wanted ultra rare Atari games!
What about TMNT Tournament Fighters? Isn't it rare enough? Especially with all the nostalgia for the turtles and people wanting to complete their turtle collections? Even if it is a crappy game.

I have the ubisoft Indiana Jones loose of course.

Not anytime soon, but I could see the Nintendo PlayStation hitting an astronomical amount sometime in the distant future.
My vote goes to about half of the AES library, particularly for English releases.
Very few would actually sell for 1K cart only, which is what this thread is about. AES collectors really only want CIB.

I think if anything it would be original art. All you need is one buyer with deep pockets and a stubborn seller.
