    This game?

    http://www.ebay.com/itm/Rampart-N...

Look up 2015 prices and then before, a guy did an experiment with an uncommon game and changed the price in no time flat.

Did it last forever? No but you do not have to have it last forever to make a good bit of cash. It has happened and it can again.

So like i said i was told you could not manipulate the market and Rampart happened.

Truth, what ever happen to just playing the game because it was genuinely a good game or because not every one wanted games like little Samson just to be a fan boy. I get all the hype but I especially don't appreciate the fact that a lot of these games on the nes are very costly and it's all due to the fact that YouTube personality over hype these titles good or bad and because people are willing to pay these crazy prices. But with that said you wouldn't have the world of collecting in the first place without these "bad" elements.

I don't think the YouTubers should hype shit up on games especially some that aren't even that great! Then you got people like MichaelBthegamegenie talking about great games for under ten bucks that's going to straight boost the prices after you make your video. Just because you got a wall to wall collection, don't fuck it up for the rest of us.

It is not just youtuber's and you can not do a damn thing about it, sorry to say this but the boat has sailed and this will keep happening to the market for old game's die's out, 8f it ever does.

I doubt it ever will NES collecting has turned into a serious market and I intend to get the ones I'm after come hell or high water.

Game collecting in general has become a huge hobby I don't think it'll die ever.

This is exactly what has happened. There are a bunch of rares that were at one time under rated, and under valued. I've always thought that Race America, Swamp Thing, Sword Master, and Young Indiana Jones were in that same group of games.

The only solution these days is an Everdrive/PowerPak/flash cart of some sort. You'll never convince someone a game isn't worth the insane prices it goes for on eBay, unless you get struck by lightning lucky in the wild.

    You can't.

First you have to buy everything up and then sell back to yourself with several different ids for higher and higher prices.

What about Rampart then? A guy buys up every copy on ebay and the price changes over night.

It wasn't overnight. Re-watch the video, it was over the course of a year.

It's also come back down from $30 to around $12-15. That isn't all that grand of a change, now.  If he spent $5-6 per copy, his max profit would be less than a cup of coffee now, based on paying eBay fees and shipping.

Even in the wild these days your going to pay eBay prices or even higher unless you find a granny at a yard sale who found her kids old Nintendo shit in the attic.

So you can manipulate the market. Ok great.
  • The only really high dollar games I'm after is powerblade 2 and maybe Bonks adventure. I have no desire to own Little Samson or even that horrible Zombie Nation. I'll buy a repro Panic Restaurant to play I'm not going to pay insane amounts of money towards a game I just am going to play from time to time.

Psshhh!?!? Based off some of these posts you would think that you were only into this hobby for some financial gain or to make a buisness out of this. For those of you who want to keep these rare underrated titles a secret are selfish and really immature. It's not a big deal who knows and I thought one purpose of this site was for helping other collectors further advance in their collection if they're missing a title. Think about in some aspects this hobby has gotten to the point now that we won't tell other collectors information or help them out because we feel that we know something and it's cool to just withhold this information, get a life people. This shit is enough to make people stop collecting then maybe the price of these games will actually go down and we won't have to worry about inflation. Just tonight or where ever you are look in the mirror and ask yourself "am I an adult?" I'm rambling on now but seriously ask yourself because this is not how grown people act.

I'm lucky enough to own little Samson. It's worth owning a repro at least. A real cart now is really expensive.

I didn't start collecting again until 3 years ago and I wish I would've stuck with it consistently but I had other priorities to tend to. Now I'm kicking myself in the ass that I didn't snag up some of these games back then when they were cheaper and when I i had the cash flow. Oh well, I'll get there someday hopefully sooner than later!
  • How do you know they are serious?

If he had picked a game less common and then used multiple user ids to sell and buy back those same games the price change would have been more dramatic and been permanent. Instead he created a temporary shortage. So when new inventory entered the market the prices returned to where they once were.

  • Is that not manipulation? Be honest with me.

It's manipulation, but... so what? If you really need Rampart GB in your life, you now have to pay $15 shipped instead of $5-8. That... isn't a huge deal, and is in line with what every other game is doing. Who knows what the price would have been without his manipulation.

As Buyatari pointed out, he would have needed to commit even longer to hold the price to its $25. He didn't, and the market returned mostly to normal. This "resellers are at fault!" misses my point. This guy "Tom" spent money to drive the market up, and he won't really make money worth his effort back. Whether its Rampart GB, or Kid Klown NES, if someone is trying to manipulate the market, they'll come out losing. There are enough of pretty much any nintendo cart that no one reseller can hold the market permanently. So, you can manipulate the market short term, but, I doubt anyone is doing it to get insanely wealthy.

Also, Rampart GB is pretty rare. It probably would have been $15 by now, anyway.

  • Ok, thank's.
  • Oh yeah this thread again.

This time, with a pissed off new guy. Good night pissed off new guy!
  • I smell lock incoming.
  • Sooooo, we still talking about kid Klown or?
