Found a battery from my original Game Boy system...

In the early 90s I traded in my Game Boy but took out the batteries and threw them in a box of toys.

Whilst rummaging around for treasures in the attic I found that box...and the Game Boy batteries.

Throw out your batteries kids!

  • I'm going to go out on a limb and say that battery is no good any longer.
  • Pretty much anything with stingy juice coming out of its bottom isn't good anymore.
  • I bought a set of acclaim double player wireless controllers a couple years back and it came with batteries from the era installed. They were duracell, but an older design than what you have. iirc they expired in 90 or 91. Amazingly none of them had leaked but they were all pretty well dead.
  • As strange as it may sound, the number 1 killer of classic portables is in fact the batteries. It doesn't matter if the console stays turned off. As long as the batteries are in a complete circuit, they will have a trickle discharge, which given enough time will sap all the current out and eventually the battery will leak its corrosive contents.
