you'd think all that snow would slow us down... But nope!
Was lucky enough to grow up in the bay area so I skated all the classic 90's spots: Pier 7, Embarcadero, Hubba, Wallenberg, 3 up 3 down, Fort Miley, and all the others. My good buddy owns a company called Skate Mental. I've met most of my all time favorite skaters, and can call a good amount of them friends.

That's a crazy list.
I have to stop by the banks whenever I'm in downtown Minneapolis, which Carroll had a small line on for Fully Flared.
Here's the deck I've just started riding. But I collect skateboards like Nick collects shoes... I bought this deck when I heard Alien Workshop was going out of business. Of course, they're back now, so it's not quite as special.
And here's an art print of Thrashin' I got from Mr. Nick Ross himself when I went to stay with him at Portland a few years ago. It's one of my most prized items!
I made a quick post about it last night, but I went to my first ever demo yesterday featuring the Element team. I met Nyjah in the parking lot afterwards and he signed a board for me.
Unfortunately, I'm terrible at facial recognition so I didn't get to meet any of the other team riders, but it was still awesome to see such great skating.
I did, however, get to meet Steve Nesser, and that was pretty cool (although my awkward-ass didn't handle that too well, haha). He gripped my board for me which was awesome.
I convinced my buddy to buy a full setup, and we messed around with it in the parking lot. I hadn't been on one in 10+ years, and I was a tad self conscious, but everyone was cool and they just let us do our thing. We did mention to the guys at the shop that it was my buddy's first ride and they were very stoked. He took to it immediately and I have to say he was better than I was, haha. I've got terrible balance and body control.
This is my most wanted deck out there. Yeah, my bar wasn't too high, poke fun if you must. I didn't get a purchase confirmation from the skateshop though, so I hope my payment went through. This one ain't for ridin' it's for appreciatin' on my wall. The next one I get will be for actual use.
When I was a teen, my grown cousin gave me a skateboard for my birthday. My friend Brian was a skateboarder and offered to teach me so we went to the local mall parking lot to practice. That day I fell on my ass 18 times. Yes, I counted. Despite my friends best efforts to teach me, place one foot on the board, the other to kick off, then try to mount the damn thing, and every time, without fail, the board launched forwards from under my foot and ass meet pavement. After walking home with an extremely sore ass, I decided skateboarding was not my forte, and later gave Brian my board as a thank you for attempting to teach me, and I figured he could get more use out of it since mine was nicer than his old one.
I get a lot more mileage from cycling anyway which I still do for recreation. We have a recently erected skate park near the municipal bike path, and occasionally I'll drive my Trek Xcaliber 7 hardtail mountain bike off the skate ramp (it's only like an 18 inch drop, not like I'm doing pro level stunt jumping or anything) in the rare instance there aren't a bunch of teens hanging about. My nearly 300 pound ass gave the rear spokes a good beating between off-road riding, skate ramps, and tons of curb hopping, and after popping out and replacing four spokes, I upgraded from the stock Boontrager wheel to a reinforced Rhino Lite with heavy duty spokes. Smooth sailing since...
Oh, and shoutout for the world's largest skateboard...

Yean, they're one of my favorite if not my favorite band. Where were those sold at?

they were made by real, I got mine at my local skate shop. Not sure if they still sell them

I'm sure it will. I wouldn't worry.
Post a pic of it on the wall when you have it!
I'm not too worried. I'm sure it will get to me safe and sound!
GD used to spend a lot of time in Minnesota, Minneapolis and Mankato specifically. Reason being, Billie Joe was dating an MSU student named Adrienne Nesser. They ended up getting married and are still together some 20 years later.
Adrienne is Steve's sister, making Billie Joe his BIL. My favorite band and one of favorite skaters are family. I sh*t a brick when I made those connections.
Anyway, the co-owner (and artist) for Send Help is Todd Bratrud, also a native Minnesotan. The three collaborated to put this thing out there. I like all the effort that went into this, I wouldn't be as interested if it was something the record label put out. It's an actual deck made and sold by actual skateboarders and Billie Joe himself.

That's pretty cool actually. Real is a solid company.
Alright, so... How do I hang this bad boy on the wall? I've found some mounts online but they're $10 each. Is there any better solution that gives the same "floating" effect?
One thing I forgot to mention about last week is that Tabari Cook built my friend's setup for him. He's one of the nicest guys I've ever met and was so thrilled that he got my buddy his first ride. I thought it was cool how supportive everyone was in general.

that is pretty awesome of him. Do you not know how to put one together yourself? I always thought it was really fun setting up my board, I'm picky about how it's done

I know how, but I've never done it. So I guess I don't know how, haha.
I was going to put his together, but I guess it was a shop service. They were all too happy to set up his first ride. I actually think it's a neat story to go along with his board.
Nesser gripped mine, so I have that. Nyjah's signature is starting to fade a bit, must have been a crappy marker. Damn...
I'm building a mount for Blue, but I don't know what screws to use.
So... what screws should I use? I need 4 to go through the boltholes on the board, 2 for the top and 2 for the bottom.i imagine they need to be about 5 inches long as well, maybe 4 (have to clear the concave of the nose/tail).

^ Yeah, Brad is the best. I might even have a clip in the Skate Mental video coming out this summer.
Definitely let us know! I'd love to see someone from NA in a skate video.
Do you have any older clips to share?
