Need some help with an Odyssey 2

So I got an Odyssey 2 and am having an issue. When I turn it on, all I usually get is a grey screen with some random blocks. If i let it sit on the screen for a while, it will usually go to a different randomized screen until I hit reset or power it off and then power it back on. Once I do that, it will go back to the same grey blocky screen.

So here is what I have done thus far:

-Cleaned the carts

-Cleaned the cart slot

-Cleaned the mother board

-Switched between channels 3 and 4

-Tried a different power supply

-Pulled out both processors, cleaned them, then put them back it

-Tried new AV cabel

-Tried multiple games

-Left the console on for a long ass time

Also, I have read through multiple forums that have had the same issue, but can seem to find anyone that has solved the problem. Here are some of the threads I have read through:

Thanks in advance.

  • With consoles of that age, I'd always replace the capacitors when having issues, and then retest. They are way past their lifespan.

Yeah, I have seen a few people say to try that, but no one has posted if that solved the issue or not. Figured I would ask before swapping out parts just in case it was something else.
  • Have you tried a different TV (you didn't say in your list)? I've found some TVs just don't play well with pre-NES consoles.
  • Let me know how it goes for you, Rookie1. I've got two that are like that (with only my well used, childhood unit actually surviving unscathed, somehow) and the "best" advice I've been able to find regarding troubleshooting is to pull and resocket all the chips you can and, if that fails, "buy another system because they're cheap." The service guide is available online, but where I'm not at that level, I've not been able to make heads or tails of the schematics inside to be able to diagnose anything; the actual "troubleshooting" in the guide is pretty worthless, pretty much consisting of "make sure everything's plugged in & turned on." Here's a link if you want to take a look.
