I was all in on collecting until I started cataloging my games. When I realized I have almost 500 titles I started to rethink things. The amount if stuff around me makes me a little anxious at times, so collecting has slowed significantly. I am working towards CIB versions of games I had as a kid. Otherwise I am considering if I will actually play the game since so much just ends up on a shelf never to be touched again.
Gaming itself has slowed down a bit while I work through the collecting issues. Still gaming almost daily but I have been more focused on cleaning out extra stuff. I am having a hard time playing anything for more that an hour tops.
5 out of 10 currently. Still enjoy games but strongly considering everdrives.
The reality is that if you are a member of NA at one point your collecting and or gaming has to be a 8-10.
I am just getting back into collecting so finding things locally or on here is super nostalgic and fun. I haven't had time to play a ton recently because of little kids at home but eventually I will want to pass on my gaming childhood to them.
For me currently collecting is at a 8 or 9 and playing is at a 2. I am interested I just don't have the time right now.
I'm only really collecting dragon warrior/quest (almost done with anyways), final fantasy, zelda, metroid and a few other items that are nostalgic to me. I can care less about owning a stadium event cart. I've been picking up quite a few homebrew/hack games and backing games on kickstarter and they are great. Recently got the curse of possum and ninja 2 that I'm waiting to try out, but then zelda outlands came in the mail...
It's a solid 8 for me. Gaming and collecting is pretty much my only hobby. Work, family, and the house take priority, but when all that is in order it's game time for as much as I can get. Even when I was on vacation, I just wanted some time to chill out and play some Zelda.
Sitting around a 4-5 at the moment. Just set up for a convention last week and sold off some stuff. Currently clearing out the "overflow" room to make way for a nursery. When I have time to hunt/play, I'll normally stop by a couple local shops and only grab mispriced games since I don't really have too much of a want list. If I do play a game, it's normally on PS4 and maybe a handful of hours a week.
I feel like when my daughter is born, I'll slow down even further.
8 to 9 for me. Second Dimension is a nice source of income to help fund more projects and better tools to get the job done. And most importantly, it's something I enjoy
Game playing 5/10, unless we have company over and we're playing WiiU/Switch/PSVR.
Game collecting 1/10. There's only a few games I'd still like to have. At this point I'm slowly thinning the herd and focusing more on disc golf collecting.
8 or 9/10. I give my hobby my everything, and that's across the board. I work, live, and breathe video games. It's not a 10 because I'm certain I could live without, but as far as choice is concerned this is where I belong.
Definitely a 8-9 for me, It was cranked upto 11 soooo many years ago, but Ive started to slow down a bit. NUMBER #1 for me in the hobby is that I have always stayed upto date with Nintendo and its first party titles.
I have a ton of other hobbies that command my attention (Such as Painting, Building Custom models, Toys, Props and miniatures) luckily for me this Hobby ties into most of my others so as it doesn't get stale, and I can always cleanse my palette with another.
Probably a 5. I play here and there. I don't search too hard for stuff. Maybe check a local store once a month. I'm actually going to sell probably 50% of my collection. I just don't feel like going for a full set anymore.
I went to a convention last weekend and picked up a handful of games I wanted and played a few tournaments. I saw some rare stuff I could have bought but was just meh about it.
I check the forums daily, I'm probably the most active I've ever been on the site ATM.
Something high, probably a 9. I don't have other "hobbies" and I think about collecting or playing games a lot, even when I'm not actively doing it.
Probably this for me as well. I voted 8 but im an 8-9. Gaming is my only real hobby and i know games like people knows sports, its what i've always done. Collecting just sort of amplified my love for gaming because as the collection grew my love for gaming grew. Gaming was always there for me to escape to like it was my own little thing. I always had a little collection but would trade towards new systems so once i sorta realized i wanted that old shit back like 12-13 years ago, building the collection up again helped me revisit great times and memories and build new ones as i played those games again with new people or found a new game i never played that gave me that same great feeling of seeing some new game on store or rental shelves. I could sell the collection if i needed to but i'd rather not. The value of games has never really mattered to me, thought of it more of an obsticle at times than an investment because the actual enjoyment i get from playing the games is what matters most. Now someone get me a beer and a tissue..
Why on earth would you want a sonar device for your pockets? I guess for me it would always detect a real whopper, but it's not like I don't know where it is at all times.
Edit: Nevermind, it goes in the water. Not sure what I was thinking.....

do you lose your whopper when you enter water? I'd be concerned about that personally

Well, sometimes I do, but only if the water's cold.
compared to you know, family, friends, career, school, health and all that maybe a 3. Compared to other hobbies maybe 7? It's my main hobby.. but thats kindof like being the best player on a last place team at the moment

This is a game collecting community of people that don't game or collect
At least we drink a lot of booze!
I'll drink to that!
