Has not aged well? compared to what? the PS2 in that generation??? people are still buying that stuff up and the ports of titles on the PS2 were vastly inferior to say the PS2/PS1/N64 at the time. Like I mentioned above I always see loads more PS2/Xbox games laying around compared to GCN. Demand is there people are just not aware of it yet or are busy invested elsewhere.

    2001-2007

Multiplatform General Rule= XBOX > GCN > PS2       (Since PS2 suffered in such departments as rendering Interlaced , Frame Rate drops, lack of Anti Aliasing & Longer Load Times)

(EXAMPLES: Soul Calibur 2, Resident Evil 4, Star Wars: Jango Fett, Shadow The Hedgehog, Viewtiful Joe, Killer 7,

Tales of Symphonia,Spiderman 2, Simpsons hit and Run jut to name a few.)

Well said, many of it's games hold up well and accessories such as the Wave Bird and Game Boy Player make it even better. However this is what, among other things, I was talking about. Because it is so underrated to the point where it's talked about even less than other underrated consoles (like the Dreamcast), it isn't too surprising that people continue to bash it. Heck I remember people bashing it before it was release. Some things never change I guess, and this is one of those instances where it's unfortunate.

It's my opinion.  I think the gamecube is weak.  You guys are totally within your right to like it.  But it's my opinion.  I'm not trying to convince you to agree, I never was.  And you'll never convince me to change it.

I know. I didn't say you can't share your opinion, nor was I even trying to make you change it. I was just stating *my* opinion that it's a bit unfortunate GameCube is so underrated/not talked about much (wasn't necessarily saying posting your opinion was unfortunate) and that I agree with Otraotaku that those games have aged well.

Cool.  I busted out my GC a few months back.  Tried playing a few games, wasn't impressed.

Konami came out with a bunch of Disney sports games. I've seen them and have read about them, but haven't played them. Guess I've been satisfied enough with games like NBA Live 2004, Madden 08, and Super Mario Strikers to even bother playing the Disney sports games.

Cool, I had never heard of them.  I only mention basketball because it's one of the most expensive games on the system.

  • Gamecube is one I grew up playing - especially smash bros. The kiddie image killed it back then because GTA was the rage. Nowadays I think it holds up pretty well, especially compared to the N64. Certain things bug me with some of the games, like wind waker and mario sunshine having horizontal camera control inverted only! I also am fed up with scratched discs - many games I've gotten in bundles and at thrift stores weren't taken care of well, darn kids! Overall its got a good library of games though and I enjoy the graphics of GC a lot more than N64.

You have to love GameCube just because the size of the absolutely adorable game discs

    Size doesn't matter!

Ideally you would use a Wii via component. GC component cables are ridiculously expensive.

I use one of these 10' Monster cables, purchased from a member here on NA: https://www.amazon.com/Monster-GCGL300-SV-10-GameCube-S-Video/product-reviews/B000092WZ2

I know, still cannot play the games in Progressive Scan that the Nintendo Component Cable does for some games.

Just a low print game that finally caught on.  It wasn't even a secret that it was rare, but nobody seemed to really care until about last year.  Partially because the gameplay in the Disney Sports games is fairly unremarkable.  I paid like $10 for this one and only remember feeling like I wouldn't really want to pay much more than that.

I just picked up this Gamecube HDMI adapter which uses the Gamecube's digital out on DOL-001 models. It works exactly the same as the component cables, perfect 480p, no lag and only one cable to deal with. And the best part is, it wasn't $200-$300 dollars like the component cables. I don't know how anyone can say the Cube hasn't aged well, all of my games look fxcking awesome on my 60" HDTV over this adapter! Here's a quick video I did with mine. No direct capture. I was too lazy. My video cannot do it justice, it looks identical to my buddy's component cables.

  • Does anyone here have Maxplay?
  • I love the GameCube! I recently tracked down the big box for Four Swords at a great price! Also recently came across both Baten Kaitos games at Game Stop, both under $30. Also Kirby Air Ride for $22. Also found a guy selling some GC games locally that I got decent deals on: RE 2 for $30, Pokémon Colosseum w/Jirachi bonus and Pokémon Gale of Darkness for $15 each.

Finally, a find of a lifetime - 11 NR discs for $100. A few sports games and some notable titles, like 007 Agt Under Fire, Lost Kingdoms, and Bloody Roar Primal Fury. They are all mostly close to retail, but Lost Kingdoms is rife with beta elements. Had to buy a NR Reader for them (which is beautiful on its own, boxed and everything). Now, I'm trying to figure out what I'd like to do with them.
  • Try battalion wars, one of the many forgotten Nintendo ips, also a great strategy game.

This is sweet.  Thank you for sharing.  I plan on getting one now.

  • This thread has made me play a few of my GCN games. I don't have the fancy cables so my Gamecube doesn't look great on my TV so I have been playing them on my Wii. So many great games. I actually just bought a Wii HDMI adapter so I hope that makes the Gamecube and Wii games look better. Pretty pumped

I'll look to get one as well for comparison. Thanks for the video and recommendation.

  • Gamecube is one of my favorite systems. Lots of solid titles for this system. Some really cool controllers to collect as well. Two of my favorite games of all time are on this system - Paper mario the thousand year door, and zelda wind waker.

Some pretty good games that come to mind right away are:

    F-Zero GX

    Luigi's mansion

    Mario Kart Double Dash

    Mario Superstar Baseball

    Mega Man Network Transmission

    Mega Man X Collection

    Pikmin

    Pikmin 2

    Pokemon Colosseum

    Pokemon XD

Paper Mario the Thousand Year Door

    Star Fox Assault

Super Smash Bros Melee (although the wii u and 3DS version is far superior)

    Zelda Collector's edition

    Zelda - Twilight Princess

    Zelda - Wind Waker

Then you have more games that I haven't played too much that look good, such as:

    Ikaruga

    Skies of Arcadia

    Tales of Symphonia

    Wario World

  • I love that generation period. So many great games from the PS2 Gamecube and Xbox. Out of the 3 I have the least gamecube games. I bought most multiplats on xbox. What the gamecube lacked in quantity it made up in quality. PS2 had a insane amount of exclusives.

How did you buy one?  Is it up on eBay only rarely?  Am I searching for it wrong?

There is a link to the dev's website on his YouTube vid: https://zzblogs.wixsite.com/home/single-post/pnpgc2. It is new apparently and limited and about $100. I saw one in eBay yesterday but did not buy.

You're welcome! I've always wondered why more people don't do this if they just want to play the game (as opposed to getting it to complete a SNES set).

    Looks great.

I really need to play Metroid Prime again...but I just bought TimeSplitters 2 and Tony Hawk's American Wasteland (haven't played them in almost 10 years).

  • How good is Timesplitters 2?
