I've been playing a lot of GC titles lately I run my cube in RF on a 12 inch screen so highest quality possible here! I've been alternating through Fire Emblem and Pikmin lately which is fun. Gamecube is up there on my favorite system list.
Man, I still haven't plugged up the Gamecube I got. Need to get around to getting a memory card so I can actually play some games. I'll be interested to get back into SSX 3 and F-Zero GX. And I guess Fire Emblem.
What is the best option for hooking a GameCube to a modern TV?
You have to love GameCube just because the size of the absolutely adorable game discs
Size doesn't matter!
I just picked up this Gamecube HDMI adapter which uses the Gamecube's digital out on DOL-001 models. It works exactly the same as the component cables, perfect 480p, no lag and only one cable to deal with. And the best part is, it wasn't $200-$300 dollars like the component cables. I don't know how anyone can say the Cube hasn't aged well, all of my games look fxcking awesome on my 60" HDTV over this adapter! Here's a quick video I did with mine. No direct capture. I was too lazy. My video cannot do it justice, it looks identical to my buddy's component cables.
This is sweet. Thank you for sharing. I plan on getting one now.
I couldn't be more impressed with this thing! It's truly fantastic!
How did you buy one? Is it up on eBay only rarely? Am I searching for it wrong?
I got it off ebay. I couldn't ever find an official way to buy it. I'm not sure how a few ebay sellers have had several of them, but all of the sellers I see selling them were out of California, not sure if maybe zeldaxpro has a few ebay accounts or friends that just sell them for him. This is actually the second revision of this adapter. When it first came out, I only saw them on ebay as well... not sure why. When I originally found mine, I just searched "Gamecube HDMI" and it was one of the top few listings. I've seen several new listings over the last week and a half, so just check back every day and I'm sure more will go up soon.
I finally stopped being lazy and recorded a couple of direct capture videos for anyone who wants to see the GC Video Gamecube HDMI adapter running natively at 480p. Just a note, my capture card is from 2011 and while this footage looks good, it definitely looks crisper in person.
It is a love letter to fans of GoldenEye 64 and Perfect Dark, made by ex-staff members from Rareware. To this day, it's one of the best deathmatch FPS games of the PS2/GC/Xbox generation. The best part is the mapmaker tool, it never gets old in multiplayer rounds with friends.
Whether TimeSplitters: Future Perfect (TS3) is better than 2 or not is a matter of opinion. Future Perfect drops the disjointed crosshairs from GoldenEye/PD/TS1/TS2 in favor of fixed crosshairs like in Halo and it adds vehicles.

Seriously? I never played a Timesplitters game. I had no idea it was meant as a sort of follow up to Goldeneye and PD. Now I have to buy it!
Whats the going rate for a GC with a controller?, looking at getting one and start collecting, is there a specific model to get or are they all the same?

You won't regret it. Like Guntz mentioned, Free Radical is made up of quite a few fellers who worked on GE/PD and it shows.

If you want the possibility of 480p progressive scan, you'll need the DOL-001 model as the DOL-101 version does not have this port. The component cables for this are several hundred dollars though. The HDMI adapter for 480p Too Beaucoup above bought and received is looking promising. I will be getting one when they are more available.

I think Gamecube is my favorite system. I've wanted to collect for it, but I NEVER see games available for it in the wild that I don't already have. They also tend to be pretty expensive.
I still play Super Smash Bros Melee every single day. I think it's one of the best games ever released, and it amazes me that people in the competitive scene have brought it to the insane level it is today, especially since a lot of the advanced techniques used were really accidents and never meant to be part of the game.
I've put a lot of time into Brawl and Wii U, they just don't compare to Melee. I think what messes me up the most is the added move input buffer in Brawl and Wii U. So often it screws up my control. Melee has no move input buffer, it will only listen to your inputs when you are able to perform a move. I play much better in Melee as a result.

It looks even better in person. I have a new capture card on the way, actually, and will have more footage up next week. It's truly a phenomenal device and I couldn't be more satisfied.
The resident evil games and metal gear solid were really pricey when I got them considering how cheap they were when they came out. I got lucky and my original Wii is the last model to play GC games so it saves me some trouble.
^^^ I never see GC merch, they really under-merchandised it compared to the N64. NA user LimboFunk, who rarely posts nowadays, had some old threads with pictures of some excellent GameCube merch he had found over the years.
Has anyone come across any GameCube-related items over the years (like the Pikmin promo item that was mentioned already)?
I actually got a sweet Gamecube poster the other day, 28 x 22 and a thicker cardstock material (not thin paper). There out there just have to look for them.

How good is Timesplitters 2?

It really is the best one though. If you like arcade style FPS, grab it.

Any recommendations on reliable, large memory card? I currently have a 16mb (251 blocks) card in each of the slots.
Nintendo brand 1019s work great for me.

I prefer the WaveBird controller (wireless) and have 3 for when we are doing party and multiplayer games such as WarioWare.
Edit: Additionally, I prefer the black color to match the GameBoy Player.
My Wavebird controllers are ready for action.

Yes. I like Ribbit King too. Underrated game.
