Damn that is amazing. It's day and night difference in picture quality. I think smash players will go crazy for this.
I think this was posted earlier in the thread. I checked out the guys website but didn't see a way to buy it?
Looks like there is a form to fill out and then he will contact you back. It's apparently he does these by hand and he has been getting overwhelmed by people contacting him. I'm interested but may wait a bit hoping it becomes more of a finished product that is mass produced.
Not sure if anyone's done this (on a GameCube) before. I bought the GameCube's official SD Card accessory a few years ago, downloaded and saved FCE Ultra GX on it, and booted it with the newer version of Action Replay from 2007. I downloaded both a few ROMs and NSF's.
It's kind of interesting to be able to play games such as Super Mario Bros. 25th Anniversary, Donkey Kong Original Edition, and Battle Kid and listen to the Mega Man 9, 10, and Shovel Knight soundtracks on a GameCube, without any modifications, using Nintendo's official SD Card accessory.
Another thing: I also downloaded CubeSX and was able to play the Rockman 8 beta on my GameCube. The only problem is that it doesn't run at full speed, but turning on Frameskipping allows it to run at a more playable speed (though it can be a bit choppy). Graphics and sound emulation is mostly normal, however.
I was going to post a new topic since this one seems to have been forgotten, but it's probably better to keep discussions about this console organized into one topic.
15/16 years after it's release, people still say things such as "it's a kid's console", "third-party support was a joke", "all graphics, no fun gameplay", and "multi-platform games are worse than PS2/Xbox versions." One question arises after reading these "facts":
Has anyone taken a serious look at the GameCube's library before (not just first-party games or North American releases, but the whole library)? If yes, you'd think more people would appreciate what it has to offer by now.
All I've ever played for Gamecube has been the first party games and a few select third party games. Nintendo's software output on Gamecube was amazing, firing on all cylinders kind of amazing.
If nothing else, the Gamecube had a lot of great first person shooter ports. It had red faction II, the Timesplitters games, the Medal of Honors, probably some others I'm forgetting. The only big shooter it didn't have was Far Cry, but then neither did the PS2 I think. The Wii really got the short end of the stick in that regard.
MegaMan52, what are some great third party and import games for gamecube you've tried?

I've seen those dumb comments still thrown around too and I question if most of them who write the stuff have. And I don't mean where you played like maybe 5 games give or take and then did just a lot of second hand source opinionated reading online, but actually played with an open mind of a buyer getting a hopefully good new game out of the box. I've owned 2 of the 3 systems in that period but have used all 3 and the one that to me aged the best and still has the most solid level of diversity is the Cube. It may not have all the third party chops because of bad business in the day but it wasn't one to suffer for lacking in awesome things to do either, though in a few genres a bit limited like RPGs.
I have not collected for it for awhile now but with my name on that GC to HDMI list I intend to get back into it. I have used Dolphin for a while now and I keep ISOs of my games for when I feel lazy or just have a few minutes so I know what to expect running it in 720p mode and it's stunning. I have because of the cable picked up a few things I had owned years ago like Pikmin 2 and I'm waiting to get the cable before I dig into it.
Since you asked about imports I've followed them for years now between both the US and PAL markets because I have one of those mod discs that run it all. Currently I only have now a few games but I have had quite a few more or at least investigated them a lot. If there was one game I'd say to buy from the PAL area it is the english release of Doshin the Giant from Nintendo and it's just genius and very fun which is one of those few I own still. There is another in that region which is a third person knights old english looking era game and it appeared to rate fairly well so that could be worth a peek but I forgot the name. Hudson put out that bundle of 4 NES games redone in 3D and I have the Bonk and Star Solider releases but I have experienced the other two and they're all excellent though I have no personal like towards Lode Runner. The Dreamcast had one called Radirgy/Radilgy which is on the Cube and it's an amazing title you should look into. Also there's a great shooter called Castle of Shikigami that was also on PS2 that's on the Japanese Gamecube release list worth a look as well. I'd suggest Mr Driller but it's one of a few games that won't play on US NTSC system without game breaking problems.

Yes that's the one. It looks like a pretty decent title. I know there was Conan too that only came out there but don't remember much. Asterix and Obelix XXL looked solid as an exclusive. I have played with the gameboy advance release and if it is similar but plays with a non ratty camera in jump or die areas due to better capabilities that would be a great game. V-Rally 3 got on the system overseas too but not here other than on xbox and it was fantastic if you're into rally racing. I also know Micro Machines had a PAL only release and I know that franchise goes good to bad so that maybe one to look into.
I just recently bought these games (even though I've rented or played them on demo discs several times before):
My GameCube collection is approaching 200 games, and has been growing since 2001. Looking further into the console's library and seeing more imports, compilations, hidden gems, and oddball titles, it definitely has more variety than a lot of people thought 12 or 13 years ago.
I got that GC HDMI adapter in the mail during the last week and it's quite shocking to see how vastly more improved the quality of the games are using it and it's nice knowing it bullet proofs the system against the dying inclusion of old school cable jacks on TVs too. I don't have many games but recently added enough to put another 1/3 more of a selection on the shelf and it's nice to have variety to throw against the upgrade I've been given.
I think I'll finally hook up my Gamecube when I find a Game Boy Player. It's only been hooked up a few times in its life (it looks and feels brand-spanking new) - Once recently to play a game that wouldn't boot on the Wii. And once a long time ago back when I bought it and briefly played a few games.
I still haven't played Double Dash or Sunshine, but would like to.
My GC library is small but consists of some good games such as Skies of Arcadia - Legends, Lost Kingdoms 2, and Tales of Symphonia. It's just easier to play them on the Wii IMHO.
NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO, don't do it! I've tried to get through it for years, I just....can't....do....it.
LOL, some love it - it was the Majora's Mask of Marios for me.
I wanna play sunshine just to see what the fuss about the pachinko level is. Can't be that hard right?
It's not impossible, but the physics in that level cause for some insanely frustrating glitches where you spring out of nowhere somewhere or glitch through a platform. I have experienced these personally not just seen in lets plays either.
One of the few collections that i'd never sell off under any circumstances, too many great games in the gamecube library. It has taken many years of extremely careful handling to keep the boxes in mint condition as those card sleeves are extremely fragile but they do look amazing. Thankfully a wonderful person finally made protectors for Japanese gamecube games so now all my collection is safely in single disk & double disk box protectors, just wish there were protectors for the bigger box stuff like the mario party box sets but hey i'll take what i can get. It's not common to see gamecube stuff nowdays with mint boxes.

Love it! Japanese packaging for video games always looks so cool. Melee and the Zelda games have been on my must-have list for awhile, but looking at a bunch of the other games I had never seen before makes me really wish I was into import collecting!

That red Resident Evil 4 cover is so amazing. The poster would be better without the "Evil Evolves" text at the top.
totally agree.my favorite RE artwork
this "evil evolves" writing at the top was also present on other(probably all?) UK based RE4 store promo items.
