Randy is alright, but just a regular ol' rock and roll guitar player, yeah he had some good riffs and solos but in the grand scheme of guitar players he is nothing special at all.
Listen to Al Di Meola, Pat Metheny John McLaughlin or Allan Holdsworth.
You might actually hear guitar for the first time in your life.
I was actually saying to my wife why does anyone give a shit about Led Zeppelin after Black Sabbath.
Because they are in two totally different genres of music lol
Imagine if we had Black Sabbath with Ozzy all this time throughout the years??? That is tough though because then we wouldn't have any of his solo stuff, and that means no Crazy Train, Bark at the moon, and the many other awesome songs he has.
Oh yeah, forget imagining Ozzy with Sabbath all this time; they had a number of years to explore that at least. What would have been awesome would have been more years with Rhoads; those guys were awesome together. Here's one more favourite YouTube video, this time solo stuff with Rhoads with great guitar
Man, Hell sounds badass, I'm going to have to check that out.
First time I fully listened to a Black Sabbath album (of course I already knew Iron Man and Paranoid pretty well and was playing the easy parts on guitar, can't avoid those, I heard Iron Man played over the loudspeaker at a grocery store once, I shit you not), the album was Paranoid, and it coincided with the first time I dropped LSD.. easily one of the most memorable nights of my life. (for the record, I haven't done that stuff since 18 years ago and even then it was very sparing and done with the utmost level of caution and preparation.. don't fuck your mind up, kids!). The album cover alone kept us fascinated for the longest time. The night finished off with that CD playing on repeat forever while we laid in the dark not sleeping. That was my first true Sabbath experience, of course you don't have to be on something to enjoy some great music.
As for the other bands mentioned, just gotta say Rainbow is excellent, Iron Maiden is king. I've made NES versions of a couple Iron Maiden songs, they don't hold a candle to the originals but hey, it's NES.

May St. Randy forgive you.

if you're a fan of black sabbath and doomy stuff, check out harvey milk. imo, the best of all the sludgy bands.
Oh, and Black Sabbath is okay. It's one of the few "metal" bands that I think is bearable.
