When did Nintendoage become a bad word?
I've been noticing it more and more lately especially on facebook gaming groups. People really rag on Nintendoage like the entire community is just a bunch of whiny garbage babies. I have never experienced that here. This is one of my favorite places to chat about and buy/sell/trade game and have always been treated very well and I'm coming up on my 8th annivesary as a registered member (lurked for about a year prior to that too). Whether it's been collecting, gaming or buy/sell/trade I've never seen this community as anything, but gracious.
Is it just that the couple youtubers that don't like the forum have spread misinformation to the masses about us or did I miss some kind of big event somehow? I love this place and will keep telling people how great it is in the meantime!

Meh, just consider the source when you hear that stuff. A lot of it stems from butthurt that they don't have the awesome stuff some of the peeps here have.
imo. members with this type of mentality is part of the reason na gets a bad rap. it kind of comes off like ypu have your nose in the air.

There's a huge difference between somebody being green with jealousy about what others have vs. looking down on somebody that doesn't have that stuff.
I personally don't care what somebody has, but I do find the larger, more organized game rooms to be works of art.

No I think it's from times like when Skinny almost beat all of us in the SNES competition using Raphael on a princess tv. Utterly humiliating

I wholly agree with this. Very cool to see what some people come up with to put their own unique touch on displaying items from their collection.
We aren't so keen on the "youtube collectors", and thats where most of the shit takers of NA started out.
I think "we" is the wrong word to use. "Some" feels more appropriate. Lots of members talk about how they enjoy watching those channels.

Lol, I think it's kinda funny actually. All you gotta do is look at some of Pats videos where he's brought up Tim and bitching about stadium events like he does in every two podcasts. Old news.....

Honestly though I don't understand why there is such a negative vibe elsewhere about the community. This is really the only forum I'm active on and that's fine by me. Lots of great people around and some of these peeps have some amazing shizz. Love the diversity found here and the fact that members here are always bringing up new goodiez for everyone to gawk at.

while it may be true .i just think the answer, because they are jealous, is kind of snoby.
Personally, I can see the certain conversations or members that a lot of people complain about. I try not to focus on that, though. If it's an area I feel very different about than other people, I'll stay out of those conversations because a fight isn't worth it. And then there are instances where certain youtubers arrive and people just start ganging up on them for whatever reason... so I get why they hate coming here. Is their mocking of NA and it's members immature as well? Definitely. So, I guess, I get it... but it's not like what they say and do about this place is any better. It's just life. There are always going to be people and things you don't like. If you focus on that, that's on you.
I agree and this isn't directed at you Loxx. I definitely see some of the complaints as being legit. But it's an internet forum, things are not gonna be perfect, and people will clash. You might not like everything you read and you might not get along with every member. Overall this place is amazing and still the best forum i have ever been on. You just have to ignore the petty stuff which took me a long time to learn and i am still working on.
The only thing that stands out to me is how abrasive sometimes we can be on newer members. I know we get tired of seeing the same stuff over and over again, but that isn't the fault of new members. If a post annoys you, or you've seen it a million times, just ignore it. Why be mean to the person or make them feel bad? Just might scare them away and make them think we are bullies, and then they go run to other forums to generalize all of us.
And as far as saying it is just playful joking, you gotta remember that unfortunately when you are new to a group of people, playful joking can seem like you are being a jerk. Especially when it is multiple members piling on.

Proof: there are several communities that clown on NA with many members who in fact have full sets, CIB, etc, but have been in the hobby for decades, and think the modern collectard environment is cringeworthy, as well as its affect on the overall hobby is negative.

Yeah, there's tons of people here with insane collections, which I agree are a work of art. I don't think it's an overstatement to say that some people would be chapped because they don't have the killer stuff that shows up in the "post your collection" thread and would consequently complain on Facebook, or some other places.
I haven't once seen someone look down, or condescend someone else for their collection, or lack thereof. If a new collector comes in and they say "I have a collection of 7 games, yay!", they don't get shunned... they get some love and encouragement to go hunting!
