Just as an aside to this, its obvious when some one is using something in the context of an insult (obviously not the pimp) and we can tell from most peoples posting history when they are trying to be mean.

If two guys are calling each other dumbass joking around, then thats fine.

We try to moderate as little as possible, but like I said earlier- when threads like this pop up, we know precisely what members are just lurking behind the dumpster waiting to pop out and say whatever the most insulting thing they can.

The mods have said before they're just users like the rest of us, I have this odd hope that they're more human than police officers and lawyers.

I probably have a worse issue with rage than other people, but I try hard to not direct it towards people, just inanimate objects. Last I checked, I've been relatively stoic around here. I just don't believe in lying about how I actually feel about a subject.

Does this mean I can't share my actual opinion on things? I don't agree with some things that go on here or are encouraged.

You can disagree, man. We all get angry and aggressive at times. I don't show it too much here but I've got bad anger issues. I used to fight, destroy things, and go off on people all the time.

If I can be blunt with you? You don't go out of your way to attack, no... but you are pretty aggressive about people's opinions. You've got to understand people feel differently about stuff. Disagreeing is one thing but just adamantly telling people that their opinions or preferences are wrong or stupid is not a good way to go about it. Just understand differences. Know that people are fine with you doing what you enjoy. You don't have to tell them why their opinion is wrong. Open a discussion and say here is why I feel this way. People can do the same. We're not always going to agree and we can part mutually. Everything doesn't have to be a fight. And sometimes? Weve just got to let shit go.

I'm vehemently against a few shared opinions here. I don't jump in every chance I get to tell them why I think that viewpoint is wrong. Pick your battles and your people to battle. Some people will be less heated. Never go against someone as hot-headed or stubborn as yourself. I'm not saying YOU particularly, just everyone. If there is no give and take there is no real discussion. Just people yelling sides.

Yeah, I wasnt serious. Just being my usual sarcastic self.

  • I want to make something very clear, for everyone. Members are not only allowed, but should feel encouraged and comfortable in sharing their opinion on matters, even if that opinion goes against the majority.

Having said that, if an opinion includes such things as name calling, negativity, thread-crapping, flaming, trolling, posting of private messages, or call-outs (this is not an exhaustive list), then it is against the rules and could have consequences.

More information can be found here in our Site Rules / FAQ: http://nintendoage.com/pub/faq/NA/index.html?load=rules_general.html

So, when sharing an opinion or discussing a topic, consider if your comments include any of the above. If you have any questions about the FAQ or if anything isn't clear, please send us a PM and we can discuss clarity in the rules.

    -----

I want people to have a good time here and have fun. Most of us are adults and we should capable of having discussions (even debates and 'heated' arguments) without things getting overly negative.
  • More clarity, feel free to say "collecting is a bad idea." I don't care if you're against collecting. I don't get it, but I don't care. Just don't say "people buying up games just for the awards like collectards."

I don't think much more has to be said about this. It's common sense.

    Good post!

  • On that note, this thread has run its course. Let's all try a little harder to be respectful of each other.
