Another Crook on eBay.... Update.... Complete

This is an update from my original thread... http://nintendoage.com/forum/messageview.cfm?catid=7&threadid=174045

I am using the pseudonym    “Jill” as the party involved..

This isn’t about the money for me. I don’t care if this is “Jill” some shit collector and fraudster on eBay or eBay itself.  I have principles. Sometimes you just have to take a stand....

Some may ask, why did you go through all this trouble?

I suppose, maybe,  I have too much time on my hands?  or

I told Pat I was really careful with whom I help, Was this my way of being careful? Was this person on my "help list?" or

Hell, maybe it’s because I get these, lets for the sake of argument, I’ll call them, “feelings” and I act on them?  or

There could also be a remote chance I’m an asshole?  Even so, people shouldn’t get away with this crap...

One might also ask, why didn’t you use their real name?

All I can say, wait for it, damn it…

I guess you never know ones character until $111.47 in on the line?

  • Seems like a lot of wasted time on your part. No lesson will be learned here by the buyer, whether they win or lose, you just wasted tons of your own time.

I know it is frustrating, and you are totally right. Your listing is painfully obvious that it only was for ONE game.

But if you had just cancelled from the beginning you would have saved YOURSELF a headache. I know it isn't right to cancel after agreeing to buy something, and you were doing this out of principle. But like Jone said in the other thread, you have to pick your battles. There are schmucks everywhere out there. And Ebay is highly buyer lopsided. As a seller you just kind of have to expect and deal with these situations as they come, at least a few here and there if you sell a lot.

I can't believe 4 people bid that game up to over $100 because they couldn't read lol One of them being a major reseller.

Just my 2 cents though and sorry you got burned.
  • The crook is going to get rekt by the FBI.

Seriously though, sorry you lost the case and it sucks that asshole damaged the item.
  • Was it the second place bidder with the 16000+ feedback from this auction you sent the second chance to?

    http://offer.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewBids&item=262980747583

That bidder is a big Amazon reseller who buys stuff on Ebay for inventory

  • lol, I am in convo with that seller on Amazon right now for an item not as described

I know! Wasn't that something? The winner of the auction game me a great feedback too... "A+ eBay Seller! Item as described and fast shipping. Expertly packed as well! L"

I have all kinds of time on my hands. I can't go anywhere. What did I loose? A mint game that turned into a smashed game. The cost of shipping the game and the $4.30 eBay charged me so the crook could ship the smashed game back. Oh, that and the end of auction eBay fees. Ebay didn't even credit me those fees..... Oh  well. what comes around goes around.

I am 26 and disabled so i totally get it my friend!

And yes, it definitely comes around, i believe that for sure. It was a valiant effort though to try and put your foot down! People like this suck, it is a shame there is no real way to combat them on ebay. And now even Ebay is against you when you sell.
  • I know you hate me , but here is some really good advice. You are going to deal with idiots and assholes online on ebay. If they want to cancel it, just do it. This is what happens when they get mad. Always ends this way.

I get pissed off too when people pay and cancel and waste my time. But its just part of it. If you just refunded and didnt ship the item. Youd be out .30 cent paypal fee and youd have a mint game.

Sorry about what happened to your game. It sucks. Ive been in your shoes before. I lost nearly 400 dollars after getting scammed. Sent me incorrect cheap sports games and a phone book from his area instead of nice popular complete snes titles on a return when he said they "didnt work". I won the ebay case, but I lost on paypal. I provided proof of everything. How would I have a phone book from Haughton Lake Michigan paypal?

I opened all kinds of reports etc. It does nothing.
  • Honestly if you're gonna sell, dont even bother with ebay anymore. You can sell here or just direct thru your own website. Just set the prices you want for your sealed games, let everyone know and there shouldn't be an issue.

I don't "hate" anyone.. I know I could have just cancelled, sometimes the fight is worth it. I have no regrets. Boredom at times make a person do something they ordinarily wouldn't do! I wouldn't know this persons character if I cancelled, nor will others. God is watching!

well, you did add me to your list   for reasons I dont even know. I did nothing to you.

All im saying is, you are going to lose every time when dealing with this kind of stuff. Rules are set in place for the buyer to always get the benefit of the doubt.

    WE'RE ALWAYS WATCHING!

Just because I thought you were an "asshole"   Doesn't mean I "hate" you. Hate is such a strong emotion....

  • Oh wow, that sounds like a very shitty experience. People like this is what is stopping me from making a eBay store.
  • Firstly - really shitty thing to happen. The buyer obviously wanted to make life as difficult as possible for you, but IMHO it wasn't a battle you needed to fight. For the sake of $6 worth of postage I would have sucked it up rather than deal with the hassle.

Secondly - In before the lock! (not because there's anything wrong with this thread, but it's Tim, ya know  )
  • This type of situation is what keeps me from selling carts on eBay, sellers have basically a major disadvantage.

As I said in my original post, I get these "feelings". If I don't act on them, I would never know if they are accurate.

  • I think the only reason to even fight it was out of sheer boredom. If you pic didn't show the actual item, regardless of what you say in description and title, it's going to go in buyers favor. Much easier to refund and I get it... sometimes you fight for principle but been involved in situations like this before and you just refund and save yourself the headache. The frustrating part is once they have paid, that's listed as taxable income, even though you refunded. Sell it again and you are paying tax on it twice.
  • Good luck getting this mess sorted out. I've encountered the biggest idiots selling on eBay.

Hopefully at some point you can provide a username so they can be added to my list of blocked people.

quest4nes has surely gotta be on most people's lists by now, lol! Heck, I don't even have a list but you'd sure as shit be on it if I did!
  • I get that you're mad and want your name to be in the clear... But going to the FBI? That's overkill. If anything, this would make people stay way the hell away from you in deals. You feel someone slights you at all and you go as far as possible? Jesus fucking Christ. I did have respect for you. Did.

Edit: And before I get a classic 'fuck you' from you, I know you don't give a shit about me or my respect.

I'm not mad, never was, but you are funny.    so                   ^

  • Not sure what I'm missing here. Other than someone though this dude put way to much effort into this. Who cares and why? Loxx, why the hate? Who is this guy?

So many questions about the hatred.

Either way, this had been entertaining to read ! This is Almost like watching a soap opera unfold

  • How have I been salty? I'm not reporting people to the FBI...

Edit: Actually, I recall reaching out to people saying they dislike me and trying to make things good.

You would deduct it as a refund/returns allowances expense

It was a joke. You've had a more aggressive tone lately in some threads but I never thought bad of you for it.

    Well that wasnt nice.

I disagree completely. Its hilarious actually because a handful of disagreements ive had on this site those members later were banned from their own shittyness or outright scamming people.

If someone actually doesnt like me on here from a disagreement i dont know what to say other than, its all in good fun. This is a nintendo site. Im not going to take a disagreement very seriously because it doesnt matter. Im blunt and too the point. I tell it like i see it.

Ive been on here a long time, and have a ton of experience buying and selling snd collecting. I try to share what i know.

Not saying you did. I'm genuinely curious why you got that vibe. I like you. Wasn't trying to start shit. If it's about Bert, we are friendly competitors. Talk shit in threads but friendly in PMs. Same for the high score thread. Talking shit to talk shit but there is no ill will.

I just wanted to bold this, I feel the same way in general, with my dealings here on NA.  In the end, we are all talking on a Nintendo site, and this stuff doesn't matter, I would hope that most of the disagreements on here with conflicting viewpoints really wouldn't translate into real-life interactions, or even be harbored after the initial thread / disagreement has passed its way through, though I could be horribly mistaken.

  • Of course eBay sided with the buyer, like of course... it's awful, really. EBay's user contract should just include a section stating "as the seller, you accept any and all returns, regardless of reason or rationale, and accept all liability if fraud is attempted against you, regardless of any contradicting evidence".

People say you wasted your time, but the only reason your time is "wasted" is because eBay is fucked when it comes to protecting sellers. If a seller could actually escalate, AND WIN, it wouldn't be seen as a waste of time to fight a buyer's BS returns. It would likely still be harder than just returning, cancelling , etc., but at least sellers would have some ground to stand on.
