No offense to anyone who likes these things but...they're so frickin' ugly!!! Why would anyone want to own them?

I've seen how "hot" they seem to have been in the last few years and I keep trying to understand. Why would you want an ugly, big-headed, beady-black-eyed, non-posable figure of some character from The Walking Dead? If you're that big a fan...shouldn't you just get an actually well-crafted, attractive piece of memorabilia?

    Those things baffle me.

I don't get it either, but you could say that about a lot of things.  Obviously, to each their own.

One of my friends has an employee whose cubicle is COVERED in those things. I said to him, "She must be a REALLY good employee." He kind of nodded.

I'll be honest and admit that I kind of feel the same way about the craze of "Lego video games". It's not the Lego itself, you understand. I loved Legos when I was a kid. Still think they're pretty neat and my kids have some.

  • Lol the lego games are meant for kids. We get the adult versions of Batman etc   They are still fun though, I just played Lego Marvel Heroes with my 8yo step-daughter, she had a blast!
  • Street Sharks and every other Ninja Turtles knock-off!

I have the Ms Pacman, Pacman, and Blinky figures, after swearing I would never buy any, but most of them are way to derpy to look at. Who thought square heads were a good idea? They even now have seasonal and holiday themed ones, and there's hundreds of them to collect for...

LOL. Someone traded in a boatload of Amiibos to my local GameXChange. They have like six Ness, two Paulatina, and a bunch of others, many of which were selling high dollar during the scalping craze. It seems the fad is dying down, but I still collect the main series characters I like. Mario Odysssey are getting wedding themed Mario/Peach/Bowser and new Goomba and Koopa figures. I plan on collecting all five.

Fan fiction nerds will go nuts over the white tuxedo Bowser, Mario and wedding dress Peach. I remember collecting the catch cards in Super Paper Mario for Wii. Seems like another "shotgun wedding" for the record books! And if anyone recalls, Peach had a shotgun wedding in Super Mario RPG as well, though it was not to Bowser.
  • Wow. You guys went in. For me, virtual pets were the biggest. Just like every other fad mentioned, I'm certain teachers played with whatever was confiscated.

I remember that as well.  I'm one of the 8 people to actually play through that game.

I'm not really a fan of those things either, but I received a Marty McFly one as a gift. I ain't even mad; it came with a DeLorean!

I played the shizzle out of that game. I think I got like 248 out of 256 catch cards. I never could bother to finish the Flopside Pit of 100 trials and collect all the Paper Mario catch cards...

And Amiibos are basically real life Smash Bros trophies so game on! Still waiting on Bayonetta though...

Yeah, the flopside pit was pretty crazy.  Ain't nobody got time for that.  I enjoyed the game more than most, but I certainly prefered the original and TTYD over this one.

Super Paper Mario was a good game, but just didn't feel like a Paper Mario IMO. Good use of Mario/Peach/Bowser/Luigi with specific abilities, and the Pixles took the place of partners for the most part. The art style was grand as well. especially World 5 with the floro and cave people. My favorite world was 3 the bitlands, and least favorite was the dungeon in World 2.

I think I had a rubber band tied to the Wiimote and left Mario running on a treadmill for like a hour before I said screw it and stole the vault code from the strategy guide. If you can make it past World 2, it's smooth sailing from there out.

That said, while Super Paper Mario was a great game, the less said about Sticker Star, the better. I did finish Paint Splash and they redeemed many of the faults from Sticker Star, but IMO they really need to return to their roots if the Paper Mario series is to be continued.

I don't think they'll ever top Thousand Yeard Door. That game desparately needs an HD remake. And sunshine as well.

You don't have to run on the treadmill very long.  Just long enough to earn enough to bribe the hidden guy to tell you the code.

But no question, the next Paper Mario (if there ever is one) needs to return to the roots of the first two.  It seems like Nintendo tried to fix something that wasn't borken, and now it's broken.
