  • Love it!

    There are a few other Shadowrun lovers on the forum, for sure.

    (There was a period of time in the early forum days when at least 2 or 3 of us had SNES Shadowrun avatars from the in game portraits)

    Have you played the recent releases? (Turn based/tactical with rpg/story tie in)

    I think they were really well executed.

    Somebody has been working on reimplementing the SNES game into that system, and they have been building their mod for years at this point. Basically, I think "the hard part" was figuring out how to reconcile the Karma systems between the two games, since Karma in the recent releases works in a non-grindy fashion since it is almost purely quest or subquest based. (Ie primary karma reward for quests and bonus karma rewards for "extras" like hacking or finding special subquest)
  • I can hear the music in my head now. Actually had the SNES version as a kid (still do). Thanks for sharing!
  • Some sweet promo stuff here. I especially like the poster on the bottom middle. Any chance we could get a close up of that one?
  • @arch_8ngel

    no,I am only familiar with the snes,genesis and SEGA CD version of the game.

    @Lostlevel83

    I hear the music everyday because I use the "Sputnik Club" ingame-soundtrack as my ringtone :-)

    @Stryphos

  • That's some cool stuff. Shadowrun is an awesome game! And Data East... man that voice that says "DATA EAST" when you start up some of their games was so cool back in the day!
  • Okay I'm officially jealous. This is the game that made me fall in love with Shadowrun to this very day, including the kickstarters. I always wished the Sega CD one had been brought over, it's very different from the US stuff but I liked the art design. They timed the SNES one really well as the pnp game hadn't been out that long at that point so it was a good way to get attention.
  • That is some incredible comic style art work on that poster.
  • @PuppyWaffles

    Data East was indeed an awesome company.I always liked their stuff.

    I think everybody here knows it already but I still want to mention it just in case someone doesnt:

    Data East(also known as "DECO") was only the Publisher of Shadowrun in the USA(and one year later in Japan).the actual development of the game was done by Beam Software,an australian company.both companies dont exist anymore.

    in Europe,the game was published by Beam Software itself but under the name Laser Beam Entertainment.

    @wesr

    I think,a fan-translation patch for the SEGA CD version was planned and also started but it was never finished.

    but I am not sure about that.
  • which version is your favorite in general?

    PAL,US or JAP-NTSC?
  • The original painting side by side with the poster.

    John Zeleznik sells copies of his books that include Shadowrun imgaes. He will also sign and even sketch them if you ask. He sent me one of these book free of charge when I purchased the painting from him. I'd offer the book to you but I recently gave the book to another Shadowrun fan who recently stopped by to say hi.

    I can't say enough good things about John. Without asking for payment John also sent me a separate shipment with his personal archive copies of the Data East Shadowrun promotional posters. Also included was a 3rd unrelated signed poster. These posters just arrived.

  • Very cool. I was going to try and get a copy of the sega cd game but it's not on amazon suddenly from the one seller. I'm glad that Harebrained is making the SR games in this era instead of the newer stuff which is way more convoluted. Hopefully once Battletech is done it'll be back to SR.
