FS/FO: Skylanders Figures, Skylanders Trap Team game and portal for Wii U, Skylanders Giants Starter

Last week I sold all the duplicate Skylanders games and figures I had (and one that wasn't a duplicate!), as you can see from my sole transaction on this site. I've acquried some more duplicates since then, thanks to winning 2 eBay auctions and buying some figures at a yardsale that I later learned I already owned.

Well, my overstock is your gain. I'm selling off all of these, and I'm not even trying to make a profit; I just want to recoup what I spent...so that I'll be able to buy even more Skylanders (I've got my eye on a Superchargers starter pack for the 3DS).

I want to get $75 (however, I'm willing to consider best offers) for the whole lot (not including shipping), and I'd very much prefer to sell it all together, though if you want to buy something(s) invididually, I'd be willing to do so. To help you calculate shipping, I'll give you my town, state, and zipcode, which is: Appalachia, VA 24216.

What I'm selling:

Skylanders Giants Starter Pack for Wii: It was supposed to come with a glow-in-the-dark Cynder, but the person I bought it from didn't include the figure, so I added a regular Cynder from own collection.

Skylanders Trap Team game for Wii U: Includes Portal of Power and both starter figures.

Loose Skylanders Figures: All the ones shown in the photos.

  • I found two more duplicates last night while playing Swap Force. I wonder if I should include them in this listing?
  • For no reason other than to have a bump that isn't the word "bump," I think I'll regale any possible reader(s) with a short, and not that interesting, story about how I tried the letgo app.

After seeing the commercials, and realizing that Craigslist was next to useless unless you are wanting to give something away or are a woman looking for NSA sex, I figured why not give it a try, and downloaded and installed it on my iPad. And since I also use my iPad to take all my photos, I just reused the ones I'd used for my Craigslist/Facebook classifieds, typed up some short descriptions, and submitted.

Much to my surprise, I ended up getting a response rather quickly—far quicker than I ever did on Craigslist. The prospective buyer stated she was interested and asked if my Skylanders were still available, to which I responded with yes. A few short hours later I received another response—her telling me she's no longer interested. All in all, it went the same way as the majority of my attempted Craigslist sales—I just got to the disappointment a whole lot faster.

The letgo app: all the disappointments and twice the speed.
  • I got another not particularly interesting story. I remember it like it was yesterday (because it was).

So I'm bumping all my items for sale on the 25 or so Facebook classifieds pages I'm a member of when I came across a post for a woman selling a Wii with various games—two of those games being Skylanders games, with some dark variation figures.

I immediately contacted her in hopes of getting the figures, though she tells me that she wants $25 for the Trap Team game, portal, and figures, and offered to throw the other figure I wanted (Super Gulp Pop Fizz) in as well. I told her that I didn't need the game, though she kept trying to get me to buy it, even telling me that I could resell it. To that, I quickly pointed out that I had already been trying to sell a Trap Team Wii U starter pack for over a week...and had yet to get a single offer for it.

She was (overly) apologetic, though, for whatever reason, she decided that she'd rather attempt to sell it together than just sell me just the figures. I even offered to trade her my Giants starter pack, as I pointed out, from my daily browsing of eBay, that items in their original boxes tend to sell faster and for more money. And though she claimed she already knew this, she still wouldn't get on board. She ended our failed transaction by apologizing some more.

Come this morning, I checked back and found that she'd marked the Wii lot as sold. I still don't know if she really did manage to sell it when it had been up for less than a day with no price (the listing had said $150, though the summary claimed that the price wasn't correct and to inquire with her for a pricing). Something tells me that she just doesn't like to back and forth and only wants to converse with buyers who agree to pay what she wants to sell it for—no questions, no haggling, no negotiations. If that's the case, she was wise to remove her posting from Facebook.
  • Updated: New figures (all from Swap Force) added to the for sale items.

So yesterday, while browsing some stores, I found out that one bargain retail outlet will be having a storewide 15% off sale for the 4th of July Weekend. However, despite it being a 4th of July sale, it only lasts until the 1st of the month...which sucks, since they just got in some Skylanders Swap Force figures.

I want those figures, and I want them for 15% off. I want them so bad, in fact, that I will accept less than my wares are worth. Take advantage of my vulnerability, so that I can take advantage of this (ironically named) 4th of July sale that ends on the 1st.
  • So this is my last chance to move at least some of my wares, otherwise I'll miss the once a year sale.

I constantly read how this website is a brotherhood that looks out for one another. If that's true, then please come forward. It's not like I'm straight up asking for money, after all. In fact, if you are a seller, you will also be benefitting from this exchange, because you could go on eBay, or another site, and relist and resale what you buy from me for a profit.

So I reach out to you members of the brotherhood and sellers looking to sell things for a profit (and if you happen to be both, even better): help me in my time of need. I will definitely never forget it if the time ever comes that you are in a similar situation.
  • Final Post: I made it to the sale, though two of the figures I wanted were already gone by the time I arrived. I only ended up with five in all, but I'm not too upset, since I already owned all but one of the figures, and I mostly wanted them because they were in their original boxes.

I would like to thank the members here...for absolutely nothing. Even before this, I long suspected that the whole "we're a brotherhood" was bullshit, now I know for sure. (Unless, of course, your idea of a brotherhood is trying to sell a collector, such as yours truly, common, loose figures for an insane markup or trying to buy his own figures for practically nothing.)

I'm not upset, though—far from it, in fact. Because, as already mentioned, I got to buy most of the figures (along with some shirts, a book, a can of sriracha Pringles, and 6 Jack Link's XXL beef sticks) and got to keep all of mine at the same time. Plus, I successfully sniped this auction:

—so I have even more figures and Traptanium Crystals for my collection (and some more duplicates to sell). I would, however, like to give a special shoutout to the one member here who messaged me. This person not only wanted me to include even more figures in with the ones I was selling, they also took offense at the price I offered them. To that person: I hope you read this and reflect on how you allowed your greed to cloud your judgement and screw yourself out of a great deal. I know I'll be thinking of you when I sell the figures on my own.

Needless to say, I have no interest in selling my Skylanders on here anymore. If a mod is reading this, feel free to lock this topic to really send home the point.

I will end this rant with a special nod to those who try to price their stuff reasonably while having to deal with constant low-ballers and insulting offers. To those people: I salute you and your patience.
