  • When certain people on the east coast pronounce "Mario"

    May-reo, ew gross...
  • I was listening to Radio Free Nintendo a while back when they started talking about "Aidyn Chronicles" I heard one guy say "uh-DEE-in" and the other say "AY-din."

A long time ago they talked about Ninja Gaiden and Liberation Maiden in the same episode, and Guillaume tongue-in-cheek pronounced Maiden like Gaiden.

I was playing BOTW the other day, finishing up the Gerudo divine beast, saying "Jerudo" in my head, until Urbosa said "Guh-rudo." I feel like I have to go play OoT again and pronounce it correctly in my head for a more correct gaming experience.

I say poke-uh-mon, even though I know that poke-ay-mon is more correct, because I don't want to look like I care too much about Pokemon. This whole thread has been a valuable learning experience for me, but there's no way I'm going to look someone in the eye in real life and say "KAH-geh."

thats Zed Ecks Spectrum. Always cheque your spelling

I would prefer to just have a universally-pronounced "Z" be it "zee" or "zed", but man I cannot stand to hear "zee" used in applications where "zed" sounds so much better. "Zee X Spectrum" sounds just wrong to me. Zed X sounds meant-to-be. Same with a Camaro Zed-28. I can't imagine someone saying Camaro "zee-28" with a straight face.

Of course every American reading this is like wtf is he talking about lol

  • Use in a word like pizza is not pronounced like saying the letter on it's own. Like with 'okay,' you don't pronounce the 'y' at the end as you would if just stating the letter. Canadians still say it pizza like most do. You don't get strange 'zeds' in the middle of words.

You mean to tell me you guys haven't been pronouncing it Kwah-zed all this time??

I hear some people say Mare-eo. I'm from the Midwest so we say Mar-rio. Ever since Mario 64 I can't help but say: "It's a me, a Mario"in the Italian accent.

awe man, I guess if they moved to Canada it would be pizeezee-eh, eh. Because Canadians always end their sentences with "eh,"

    Eh.
  • Not a game title or character, but I absolutely cannot stand when people pronounce the NES and SNES as "ness" and "sness"
  • I agree with that. I pronounce the acronym.

    Its a me, Mare-io!
  • Mare-io is just wrong.

I hate to say this, but I'm guilty of saying "Tay-toe" for the longest time. I realize now that it's really supposed to be Tie-toe. Taito. That first syllable is even in the name of a country, Taiwan.

    wait... It isn't pronounced tay-won?!
  • Guilty of mare-eo over here. Always said it that way, although I've tried to correct myself of it so now it's like a mix, I could say it either way.
  • Every person I've known named Mario pronounced it with a long A like 'mare'.
  • All of them, if it wasn't for spell check I would be legally retarded.

Were they Italian? Listen to how the Beastie Boys say "Mario C. likes to keep it clean" in "Intergalactic (Planetary)."
