In this universe, sure, but what if the Large Hadron Collider ripped a hole in the fabric of spacetime and pulled Chuppa3 from his universe where they wore different colors on the NES game to this universe where they all wore red? Ever think of that? I bet not.

I "did" think about that but I thought there was some kind of space anomaly that reversed it back to normal?

Kind of figured we all knew "that" too.

Thank you kind sir. I don't have a huge Turtles collection but one early piece with all 4 turtles is all I need. You and I both missed out on it the first time around but the second time it was made available I had to jump on it.

Yeah, the TMNT comic books were kind of a cult/underground thing compared to the rest of the franchise.

The new movies were supposed to be closer to the comics (such as Raphael's personality), but they kept the different masks. Because it's not like there was any other way to tell them apart, like different weapons or something.

The original live-action movie lifted heavily from the original comics. Splinter originally being an ordinary rat and not a mutated human, Leonardo almost getting killed by the Foot and recovering in a country farm, Shredder's final battle on a rooftop were all from the Mirage comic run.

I remember buying a collected issue trade book at a comic shop back when I was big into the cartoon series. The comic blew my mind: It was far darker and bloodier than what I was used to from the cartoon.

In the comics. But in the movie, it was Raphael that took a beating. In fact, Raph has more screen time in that movie than the others.

I almost forgot about that.  I always enjoyed the fact that he had more screen time since Ralph was always my favorite growing up.

  • I was also going to blow your minds about the original color in the comics being neither red nor multi-color, but it looks like that has been covered.

My mind would remain relatively unblown.

It's all in the presentation. XYZ blew it!
  • He also spoiled the twist to The Crying Game.

The first TMNT game had the red masks. I remember that caused a lot of discussion and arguments on the playground from kids that never saw the comics.

Actually... they were all grey/black bandanas because the comics were in black and white.

Haha, jokes. Tulpa's right. All of them had red bandana's in the original comics, which is where the cover from TMNT on NES came from.

Confirmed, the colours were introduced into the cartoon.

Haha, damn... just read the thread. This has all been said. Oh well. I love Ninja Turtles too.

I very much agree with this.

In the new cartoons, they actually go back to it being Leo that takes the beating and almost dies. It actually does a great job of bringing to turtles to the screen while also keeping it kid-friendly (to an extent at least, characters do die and some pretty gruesome, though you don't see it).

  • I didn't like the 2003 cartoon. Aside from maybe the earlier episodes of the first season, it was too focused on Leo and Donnie. They were always treated like the most important characters. Donnie was almost always with Leo and Raph was almost always with Mikey. Whenever they were nearing the end of a battle, Leo would always save the day and Donnie would help him while Raph would just stand around and watch with Mikey. Whenever they split up, Donnie would be with Leo and Raph would be with Mikey. Whenever they dodged attacks, Donnie would jump in the same direction as Leo and Raph would jump in the same direction as Mikey. Even when they got knocked down, Leo would be sort of be a distance away from the group (because he's the "amazing" one) and Donnie would be in the middle in between Raph and Mikey. They also changed some things, like that episode where Donnie becomes a monster. That happened to Raph in the comics, but apparently they changed it (once again) to keep Raph standing beside Mikey all the time and keep the focus on Leo and Donnie.
