Kay Bee Fiberoptic Sign Found

This sign came from the Kay-Bee in Susquehanna Valley Mall in Shamokin Dam, PA. It was supposed to go to the trash compactor when KB closed but an employee stuck it in his parents attic.....And so it sat for 20 years. It recently was found by a local and found its way finally into my collection. This is has been like a grail quest for me. I have desired no other sign more than this one to add to the collection. Time to sit back and enjoy things for awhile.

  • Pretty cool story and an extremely cool pick up. Congratulations, man. Looks to be in great shape.
  • Awesome sign! Are you going to hang the sign or place it on a shelf? Where is the video showing off its fibern optical goodness?

It needed some TLC after getting a little beat up during shipping but I got it looking new again. Labor of love!!

Its on a shelf. This sign does not have holes for hanging which is understandable. It could be with modification. Its not that heavy even being 6 feet long. Will add some pics of it displayed soon. :-)
  • If anyone can find me a vintage picture of this sign in any Kay Bee store back in the day I will send you a prize!!!

  • There's a video of it in a store

    Haha another one slips away
  • Sweet find, Man! I remember KB and then another store callled Children's Palace that both competed with Toys R Us before ultimately closing or being bought out by Toys R Us. Neat sign and I'm glad to see it resurrected from an attic and in its new home where it will be appreciated.

How on to the part where you could win a SNES game "starring you"... Did this actually happen?

Did the person how won this competition happened to be named "Lester"?

Thanks! Yeah Kay Bee was such a staple of my growing up. Childrens palace was not a midwest thing I think. I saw alot of pictures though when researching Kay Bee stuff
