SNES Game Genie with Super Famicom Games

Does anyone know if the U.S. Game Genie works with Super Famicom games as far as codes go? I know a lot of games all contain the same programming methods but simply have different languages, so I was curious if Japanese games will work with U.S. codes or if it really comes down to a game by game basis and you just have to try them and find out.

  • I don't know, but the game won't physically fit on unless you file down the tabs on each side of the connector (or remove the casing... This is how I use mine as a converter, but I don't care about codes.)
  • ^ Yeah, I know it won't fit, I was more curious how cross-compatible codes might be.
  • you might get lucky but I wouldn't expect it work in most cases. too many things can end up different with even the slightest programming change.
  • So I think some folks might be confused here... Super Famicom games can be played in a Super Nintendo with 100% compatibility... and they "Fit" just fine, (simply remove 2 tiny plastic bumpers with pliers on your SNES),

So Super Famicom games will work inside / with a Super Nintendo Game Genie... no problem / no mod needed (as I don't believe the Super Nintendo Game Genie even has those two tabs)

The Game Genie Codes will work just fine, as the Game Genie won't know if you have a Super Famicom Game or a Super Nintendo game plugged into it!

Best way to prove this... try it and find out

Yes, it does have the tabs. People mod them in favor of modding their SNES if they'd rather not mess with the system.

Most roms are exactly the same as far as I know, other than RPGs and stuff. It should work for the most part. I don't know for sure, just an educated guess

Yeah, when I said I knew they wouldn't fit, I just meant, I knew they wouldn't fit without removing the tabs. That said, I was just curious about codes with the Super Famicom games. I appreciate your help!
