Local AZ news hyping up some rare games

http://www.fox10phoenix.com/news/arizona-news/278646588-story

I just thought this was funny fluff piece, be sure to watch the video for maximum "coin" puns. They interview a local collector then say to look out for Stadium Events (Only ~20 copies exist, the number goes down every time you mention it!), "the 1990 game" Nintendo World Championships, and sealed SMB which is worth $30,000.

SE and NWC are "your old games are gold" standbys. It's fun to see them pick up on that sealed hangtab SMB though.

  • Lmao: "I would say around $3,000, maybe more," said Torres, when asked about the value of his game collection. "The consoles alone are about $1,000."

    xD
  • I feel bad for the people working at game stores because they know some clowns are going to come in and expect $1000 for their copy of SMB/Duck hunt.

I guess he'd have to be talking about everything from the NES to the Switch. If so it might get close to a grand, especially if still in box.

And he must have a relatively small collection of games, too.

I mean, he happened to work at a local game store. They probably saw the game show was in town, went to the local game shop, and asked the clerk "So do you do the retro game thing?" to make a story out of it.

I don't.  Those are the moments I'd want to work at those stores.

Srsly, yo.  There's at least 100 of those on eBay right now.

Sooooooooooo, should I be asking more for my SMB/DH/WCTM?  I can raise the buy it now price on EBay to $1500?  After all, it's 3 games in one.

They showed my old copy of sealed SE which is kind of fun to see on the news.

The piece itself is a little cringeworthy as a fan, but whatever.
