Who owns the original Metroid II painting?

Anyone know and are there any pictures of it? (I'm looking at you Bronty)

  • Probably in Nintendo's vault. They are very protective of their stuff
  • I could have sworn someone had it.
  • I'm just guessing. If anyone knows it'd be Dan or Adam

No such luck.. keep in mind that 90% of everything doesn't exist or is owned by a corporation and it's almost 100% when you are talking first party

You are likely thinking of the poster.
  • Anyone know who the original artist was?

I want to say I've seen it without the text and title and stuff too, and it wasn't on a NP poster or anything, more like a scan from a guide or a magazine or something.

Now I'm wondering... I don't really care if it's in a small photo, I just want to see if it even still exists. I'll look more into it when I get home.

The poster signed by "Samus Aran" lol     Would look good next to my signed pictures of Mickey Mouse and the tooth fairy.    The other possibility is that he's thinking of the painting for the Nintendo Power issue featuring super metroid.   That art was posted once and was my avatar for a while.    It would be easily mistaken for metroid 2 as it's not a dissimilar image, and it's the only full metroid painting out there .   What say you Austin/Mike?

  • Just like BouncekDeLemos, I want to say I've seen it without text. Maybe that's what I'm thinking of and assumed it was taken from the original painting?

It's definitely not the Super Metroid poster from NP.

    This thing.

  • austin:   If that's all then the textless image is likely just sourced either from the poster Adam is talking about or originally from a film transparency which was an inbetween step between the original and the box
  • Here is one of the posters. Gamesniped featured the auction the same time as the original Wolfenstein painting.

  • I've got one of those glow in the dark posters. It's sweet.
  • Found the one I was thinking of, but the glow in the dark one... opens up some 20+ year old nostalgia somewhere. Like I somehow vaguely remember someone owning a glowing poster. I still wanna say I've seen one without the text/title. Maybe my mind playing tricks, maybe not.

But here's what I found, I blew it up 2x. It has Samus in her correct stance, and the smoke is showing. Came from a database site stating that it's from Club Nintendo.:

  • That same art went into the yellow re-release of the NES game too. I've got that one complete, favorite Samus art.
