Another NES Classic purchase fail
So last night on a seller app I saw someone selling an NES Classic for $150.00. I messaged the seller and said I was interested but at a lower amount. The seller said that several people have inquired on the posting at listing price so they would be unwilling to go lower than $150. I messaged back okay, and keep me in mind. Today before lunch I get a message stating that if I could pick it up today my offer would be fine. I confirmed that he had the box and everything was included then scheduled a time and place to meet over the lunch hour.
I arrive about 10 minutes early at our meeting place and notice I recieved another message from the seller. He stated he was running about 30 minutes late. I almost left...and should have, but I really wanted it so I stuck around. While waiting another car pulls in and the guy waves at me, he parks and walks over to my car. He asks if i'm selling the NES classic??!!, I said no, I am waiting for the seller!! This guy freaks out and starts ranting about why he hates to do business on this app because this happens all the time. He tells me how he has been trying to get a NES to shows his kids...yadda, yadda, inset reason on why he needs it more than me. I tell him if he wants to play NES there are easier ways to get a system. He tells me that he is a single dad and..inset reason why I have no money to buy individual games.
About 20 minutes pass before the seller pulls up. The seller walks up my my vehicle and asks if "we" are the buyers? I fire back with yes, do you have two NES Classics? He laughs and told me no but "we'll treat it like Ebay". I roll my eyes and start my Jeep, the seller asks why i'm leaving? I said i'm not interested in bidding on something I already worked a price out on. The seller had the audacity to tell me in front of the other guy that I was the high bidder but he was worried if I would show up?? He said he made two meetings one with me and one later for this other guy but was late getting here, he knew he only had enough gas to make it here and after the sale he would fill up. So I ask this guy what were you going to do if I bought the NES? He said "I would have left". I asked right in front of the other guy, what about him? he just shrugged.
I turned to the other guy and asked how much did he offer? He told me $100. I told that guy to only give the seller $50 for it since he couldnt leave without gas and I pulled away.
I still want that NES Classic but it was worth it to teach the seller a lesson in karma! I really hope that buyer only offered him $50.

At this point, I would just wait a few months and get one at market price from one of the stores that will be carrying them again soon.
You handled that better than I would

Its really sad the lack of etiquette you find on these selling apps. Somewhat similar thing actually happened to me a few months ago, but for a lot of SNES games. I showed up at the agreed location and time, and waited for a good half hour and the seller never showed up. I messaged him when I left and when he replied back (later that night) he just said sorry I sold the games an hour before. I asked why he didn't at least let me know so I didn't have to waste my time but he never replied. I wonder how such scumbags can sleep at night.
Unfortunately its just a drawback to buying and selling locally and these jerks know there's really little in the way of consequence if they act this way.
P..I'm not planning on buying from resellers unless I can't luck out and get one in stores a second time...which knowing my luck I probably won't get it in stores.
What happened the first time?
Glad you walked away.
You handled that better than I would, if you have the sellers phone number or email you could definitely sign him up for something interesting as a pay back . Also what a total scumbag for doing that...
This must be done.
To the people asking why not wait... probably the new ones will not be hackable.
No such thing.

I know everything is hackable eventually, but these ones may take a longer time. Take the PS Vita, only recently it became hackable after years in the market. Better have one that you can certainly hack, than one with only a promise.
But aren't NES Classics going to be back in stores? I'd wait till then to buy one...I'm not planning on buying from resellers unless I can't luck out and get one in stores a second time...which knowing my luck I probably won't get it in stores.
I hear the same. Getting one has been a heck of the battle and i didnt mind paying more to own one I would never sell. That being said, I truly hope Nintendo makes enough to go around this time. We'll see.
Which app if you dont mind my asking? I use letgo and have had great luck with it.
Offer Up.

I never even saw it in stores. I've never physically seen one in person. I've only seen photos of them from resellers. So I never had a chance at one. This time, this second time they're making these things...I hope I can find one in a store!
