    A soulless beverage.

  • By definition, yes.
  • Yes... my question has always been though, what is this ale from Ginger's?

Like it Ginger Ale, like Ginger sweat, urine or something else entirely...

Please one of you Gingers around here, share the secret to your ale!

  • I consider it a soda. Not a very good one though.
  • Its a Soda! I love Ginger Ale! I always have to have one on a flight for some reason. Sorta tradition.
  • Canada Dry.

    The champagne of ginger ales.

I feel like that's the only time I have it, since I don't buy soda at home, and it is rarely on tap at restaurants, unless they have a Freestyle machine.

Agreed! I never touch pop but when I do it's Canada Dry for a couple-a mixed drinks.

  • my favorite beverage, the only one my heart has room for
  • Awful normally, but really does help with curing a hangover. At least when you combine it with Gin

It's hard to explain. Think of it as a less sweetened Sprite or a more flavorble club soda/sparking water.

Used in Canada and the US as something to drink when you're sick with a stomach bug. At least, that's what my family uses it for. hahaha

To the OP: since you can find it in the soda isle, it's in 2 liters, and it's carbonated, it's a soda.

  • Yes, it's a soda...and one of the better varieties at that. In particular, it's far superior to any of those so-called "lemon/lime" carbonated beverages in that it actually has a flavor that makes you want to drink it.

But if it is a soda, why call it ale?

Does it even have any abv graduation?

It will be 110% lame if it doesn't!
  • I was really weirded out visiting the east coast and seeing it everywhere. When I was a kid, I only got it on planes, for the novelty, because it was available.
  • There is nonalcoholic Ginger beer. So, that makes it what? It tastes like soda.

Well, root beer isn't a beer and like root beer, it's non-alcoholic.

  • Soda? It's a coke
  • Goes good with strong vodka sometimes

I would consider it a coke as well.  A delicious one.

    The best soda out there.
  • Liquid torture. The only thing that I have ever found that gives me heartburn.
  • Yeah, absolutely! And it's delicious, what is wrong with you savages?! =P
  • So, yeah, when I was 16 I was in a really bad car wreck. I crushed a vertebrae, and I was in the hospital for 14 days, after which, I went home wearing a back brace and was told to only move when necessary, and just enough to keep my muscles from atrophying. While in the hospital, they had a feeding solution hooked up by IV and the only thing I was allowed to consume from my mouth was Ginger Ale. Before the accident, I loved the stuff. However, being the only thing I could taste for days, it became literally one of the most disgusting things on the planet to me.

It's a shame. I really did enjoy ginger ale but now, even 20 years later, just the smell makes me nauseous and want to run away.
  • It's the worst soda.
