Way back in the day several friends of one of my brother's rented an old farmhouse out in the boonies - it had central heating so in the winter they pretty much had to keep their bedroom doors open.
A stray boxer mix showed up and they brought it was the dead of winter in Minnesota so it was extremely cold (plus it was just the right thing to do), When they woke up they found that the dog has gone into all of the bedrooms and grabbed all of their pants and made a nest out of them. They wound up keeping him and named him "Trousers". He turned out to be a heckuva good dog.
I named one of my black burmese cats Luggnut as he was a little scrawny as a kitten and just kinda blew up all the sudden and is nothing but a big ole lug and seemed to refuse to grow out of his kitten stage, hell he still kneeds his paws and drools when he lays on me and I'm petting him.
I dont know how strange or unique it is but when i was very young we had two dogs one was named Boots and the other Rags and i dont why they were named that.
My most recent dog was names Dude, a beagle, and he really was the best dog ever.

One of my brothers once had a dog named "Phydeux" (my whole family loves puns).
N'yuk n'yuk.

I have a friend who names his dogs after computer languages. Last one he had was Perl (Pearl) and his current dog is Ada.
Aw, that's cute!
(Side-note: In college, a classmate in a programming class I took was horrible at programming and, funny enough, he was named Pascal).
