Pokemon Red with different box art

I've been looking at sealed copies of Pokemon Red lately and I recently came across one with something diffrerent on the back of the box. Usually, it shows a Sandshrew fighting a Meowth, but this one shows a Pidgey fighting a Rattata, like this:

What's the deal? Was this a first print run of these boxes or something? I can't find any info on this.

    Pretty sure that one is a later release with the bolded esrb rating.



    edit: maybe not. I found one with the earlier esrb that has pidgey fighting ratatta. Not sure anymore. Maybe -1 has old esrb with pidgey and -2 has bolded esrb with pidgey. Original release has sandshrew I think.

    Interesting. I bet they changed it because only Blue has Sandshrew and Meowth.
