Can anyone recommend some good soldering irons?

Hey NA,

Looking to replace my snap on soldering iron that i have. It is old and not the best and crapping out.

I was looking at the following and was wondering if anyone had any experience with them? Or could recommend a solid one they use?

It would just be for replacing batteries and occasional mods. Nothing crazy. The Vastar is probably more than enough, but nowadays Amazon has so many paid reviews you just never know anymore.

Weller

Vastar

Xtronic

Thanks a bunch

  • I'm a big fan of the hakko fx888d, bout $100 but been really solid and fast to heat up with decent thermal mass
  • I recommend Weller for low price and high value

I also use this one and have no complaints about it at all. Does run roughly $100 but its really solid and for the price if you do a lot of soldering it will pay for itself in no time at all.
  • I use a weller at work and some cheapy ebay $40 station, both work good for what I do.
  • Hard to go wrong with weller

^ This is a great iron. I bought it to replace my aging Weller and it's much better.

I've used similar irons at work for 13 years now
