Value of a Little Nemo Prototype?

Hey everyone, I just wrapped up a weekend of RWX and while I was there I picked up a proto of little Nemo on NES. The seller had about 10 proto each priced it at $400. He said he purchased them from an estate clean-out guy who found them in a home in NYC. The prior occupant was a magazine writer who received them for review.

I would up trading the guy some rare stuff I brought. I'm pretty happy with the trade; I have good memories of playing Nemo as a kid, but I'm wondering what the real value of the proto is. I doubt this guy did any research and just slapped $400 on all of them.

I did my own quick googling and the only thing I found was a thread a year ago where NE$_pimp estimated it at $200. I'm curious if that's still the case.

The proto works; only tested to confirm it boots but I strongly suspect it's the retail release rom.

  • The real question is, what were the other prototypes?

As for value, it would likely sell north of $200 at open auction for sure. It's a Capcom prototype and a decent title. Nice score.
  • From what I recall, he had a few tengen titles in the black carts. rolling thunder, klax. Non tengen stuff I recall was Demon sword, wall street kid, roadblasters
  • Don't forget to check for tobacco censorship. There is also a level select feature in that game.

As for price, my guess is ~$300 at auction. People love capcom. It also seems that you get a bigger pool of bidders with long board prototypes.

Edit: Also, if you want to be in the running list of prototype owners thread, don't forget to post over there.
  • Thanks Xerxes, I checked the game again. Level select is present and there is tobacco censorship.
  • One of my favorite games if your looking to sell let me know I would be intrested in buying it.
