Yeah this sucker shot up in price a couple of years back. I never got it because I thought the price was ridiculous but it would be cool to have if I could get it at a reasonable asking. But then again your talking to a guy who paid 75$ for a clean copy of Shatterhand.
LOL I really am not trying to bring attention to it to push the value up. I've always known it to be a $15-$20 game and honestly that's about the quality range it actually is in my opinion, but for some reason around mid 2015 (according to pricecharting) it started steadily going up. I am genuinely curious of the cause, and just assumed it was some big name youtuber that I missed.
He's missing TMNT Tournament Fighters, though he has the other three.
I only care about the side-scrolling beat 'em ups. (I've just had the first one since I was a kid). Jack the price up on Tournament Fighters all you want
Both of my stores have copies of this game for a while and frankly I find it kind of annoying that it's that expensive. I could deep discount them, but would anyone even care then except for reselling purposes? I really don't like selling on the internet. I almost want it to go down just so it goes away. This is one of many things that's worth a lot on the internet but little in real life -- a concept that the world is just starting to understand.
I've noticed that trend quite a bit locally. A shop around here had some insanely high priced boxed games that people froth at the mouth over online that would be gone in a 5 day ebay run no questions asked but have sat for months, lots of them (not a year yet) without anything moving and they've added more to the mess. Asking locally can't always work out the same as asking online. There's more than enough people here locally who could pay such an amount on ebay I would think as there's plenty of collectors and resellers too, but the stuff just sits as it's no discount over ebay. It's almost like the locals are just punishing the old shop for trying to match the internet. They could lower it but I think they'd be afraid of both leaving money on the table and having a reseller scoop it up. They had a big reseller problem a few years back as their shelves went fairly barren after a half price books opened up around here and started using online pricing. They had to compete locally matching them and the place has since become almost like a museum of neat old stuff few will pay for as they can get it beating the averages online for less.

Yeah, that's the big problem. If someone tries to be nice and sell something for way below market value, someone will just snag it and flip it.

I'm not a fan of action platformers, and even I like shatterhand and I know I overpaid for mine, because I wanted it. This was in 2000 so overpaying then wasn't too bad, but then again, I made a LOT less money then.
It's been up there for a while. It motivated me to sell mine because every time I played it I just wished that I was really playing Mega Man or Darkwing Duck
it's like how everyone copies call of duty nowadays

I don't think it is the prices keeping those items on the shelves, but rather the lack of eyeballs on those items. If the store owner isn't putting those items up on eBay, they're limited to the local people visiting their store or checking their FB feed. There might not be people in your local area that might not want those items badly enough to pay the market price.

Yeah, I still need this game.
I see a way you could get rid of one of them.
