Swapping components on a DS cartridge

Hello all! So last night I sent an offer to pick up a Deoxys distribution cart. I paid $20 altoghter on ebay so it was a pretty good deal altogether. Just one thing thouugh. The cart is totaled. The person who cut it went ham on it. However, judging by the cuts. The components themselves are OK. So my plan is to find a donor board and simply swap all the components on the board. This is where my issue comes into play, how do I tell what kind of board to use? Looking on the board, I can see its marked M-6 and C02-10 on the board. Should I match this exactly? Or what should I look for as a replacement?

Also, I am going to need some advice for swapping the labels to a new cartridge. I am going to buy a translucient red cartridge for this and I would like the original labels to be on it, or are reproduction labels for something like this a thing?

I know this thing is going to be absolutely worthless when its done, but I kind of want to try to save it. Not many of these things surface on ebay from what it seems, so I would like to do a transplant. I don't have this cartridge yet, its comming from overseas so it will be about a month before I get started. I just would like some help approaching this whole situation. I posted some pictures below:

haha, seriously.  I put an auction lot here that got no bids at $35, and after that an NA member bought the lot from me on eBay for $60 instead

  • bend the card back into a semi-flat shape and try it in a DS anyway. what's the worst that can happen?

I was gonna try that because whats the worst that can happen, but the pcb is cracked based on what I saw which is why I'm expecting to have to swap out components.
  • well first off that back label will need to be removed with out heat cause i think those are laser printed and will damage if heat is applied. the front label cab be removed easily with heat.

you will need to pop open the cart and see what you are dealing with. if the chips are intact you will need a heat gun and a way to pick up hot electronics. unfortunately that is requiring very expensive equipment...

so before that you should try repairing the original cart which could be done by rewiring all the traces on the board. and putting it in a new plastic housing.

    Anyways good luck fixing it.
  • I've seen quite a bit of similar DS carts on eBay lately. What's the deal with the damage these have? Are people stealing these from kiosks and damaging them from it?

I have no idea why. My guess is that they were supposed to be destroyed when they were sent back. They were probably instructed to take a pair of scissors and cut the bottom so it cannot be used similar to how gamestop employees were supposed to cut wii u kiosk controller cords. I have no idea where these people are getting them from. A lot of them are comming from China of all places. The thing is though, they are legit from what it seems. The one I bought is comming from a seller who is in Japan. Where that seller got it is beyond me.

All I know is that I'm going to try to save this one and still need to identify a donor board if I cannot repair the current.
