Did Zelda's Adventure cd-i demonstration disc ever come white instead of red?

I bought this lot on eBay just now, but with the fakes in past years, I definitely have concerns.  Primarily, I have never heard of Zelda's Adventure coming in white instead of red.  Was this an obvious fake?  It was only up 6 hours in the middle of the night and poorly listed, so I thought maybe it was just under the radar.  I don't doubt that I can cancel/return them if necessary.

What do you think?

  • My gut says fake, as the color of the data part of the disk is gold-ish and if you look closely at the data layer, you'll see a secondary, darker ring about 1/3 in from edge (or 2/3 out from the center). To me, this indicates that these were burned discs and most likely fakes. Now, there have been absolutely legitimate prototype/demo/etc. discs which have been burnt and these are marked as demonstration/NFR (which are likely to have different surface/cover art/decoration than the finished product), so they could be legitimate, but I don't know enough about CD-I prototypes and such to offer any insight into that. Hope this helps.
  • I'm no expert but as darkchylde28 says those seem to be cheap CD-Rs, if you get them delivered you can confirm this with software like CDSpeed or PlexTools, it will tell you a lot of info about the media, like capacity, manufacturer, max recording speed (should probably be no more than 4x in vintage CD-Rs), should be easy to get your money back.
