NES Game Genie Store Display

Several months ago I went out to dinner with my wife and some of her friends. One of my wifes' friends is married to an engineer/inventor. I've met him several time before in the past (great guy). We get on the topic of video games and I mention that I collect. He asks me if I remember the Game Genie and I tell him "of course." He goes on to tell me that he helped develop the game genie and he'd check his office and see if he had anything game genie related. Dinner ends and we go our separate ways. About 3 weeks ago a package arrives at my door.....and well below you is what was in the box.

Haven't seen anything like this on the internets (Google image search/ended ebay listings/ even NA). Anyone care to weigh in on what they think it might be worth or any additional information?

  • Thats really cool. I would say around 150$ or so, you can get a mint in box GG for 20-30.

    Still an awesome display!
  • Thanks for the info. Yeah I figured it would be in that price range. Game Genies don't go for that much. Have one of these ever popped up on NA before?
  • That's amazing, a really nice piece.
  • Man that's sweet. Feel like $150 may be a little low but with it being a non-Nintendo licensed thing it may be right.
  • This is pretty awesome!
  • Very cool and interesting, I imagine it would've been a phenomenal time in life to be part of that development community in the 80s and 90s for those classic game consoles
  • $150 might be high, might be low. Its really hard to say honestly. Depending if others sold here or on an eBay auction is the only real way to assess the market value.
  • May not be worth much but is a really cool piece, would display nicely
  • Given how nice it truly is, and that the Game Genie is probably the most popular unlicensed NES accessory, I could see this going for a bit more than 150 in open auction. Would look pretty great in anyone's collection, a real eye catcher!
