Nintendo World Championships 1990 All Access Badge

Anyone know how rare these are or what there are worth?  Thanks!

  • They are quite rare, Howard Phillips auctioned off a couple of them here years ago. He mentioned that most of the event staff had different badges, very few of the all access ones were made.

You can see what they went for in 2013 in that thread, no idea what one would go for now.

Thank you very much for the link. I know that if it were longer than a 12-hour auction, that badge probaly would have went for a lot more. That was very informative. Thanks again.

  • Do you have one? If so, how did you get it?
  • I do have a NWC 1990 All Access badge. My dad was a Teamster in Detroit and worked at Cobo Hall (also home of the North American International Auto Show), which is a huge deal here in Detroit. Anyway, my dad was one of the men who were responsible for the load-in and load out of all shows at this convention center. This of course included the Nintendo World Championships in the spring of 1990. He knew I was huge into NES at the time (I was 12) and he got me the NWC All-Access badge as a keepsake. He just pleaded his case and told someone what a giant Nintendo fan his son was. I was going through some stuff the other day and I figured now is a perfect time to sell because I am raising money for a house. I have been researching the rarity of the item and all I ever run across are the Howard Phillips badges. I figured with it being gift-giving season, this is just as good as any time to let it go. I feel like it's the holy grail of the NWC excluding the regular and gold carts of course.
  • Thanks for all your input!
  • Thanks for sharing the story behind this. It's a pretty sought after item, and I also can't put a price point on it. I'd say just let 'er ride on a 7-day auction! You'll be setting the price point on this one....

    And welcome to the site!
  • Thank you, very excited to revisit my gaming roots!

Thanks for sharing this. That was cool.

Yeah I could see them selling for a bit more today.
  • Toss it up on Ebay for a penny and a 7 day auction, and see what it goes for. I'd guess in the $400-500 range.
  • A few months ago I got very much into NWC 1990 items and tried my best to aquire a few. I managed to collect 2 very niche items: a shirt with "official semi finalist" on the back as well as semifinalist's painters cap.

Wasn't able to grab myself one of these....not sure if I'm interested, but in either case....a very cool item.

Please post the link to the auction if it goes up for sale. Good luck wity the sale.
  • I just put the auction up on Ebay. I will post the link in the auction section.
