Nes Composite to VGA problem
I'm working on a project. I have an arcade cabinet that isn't working as it should. I've decided to convert it into an NES cabinet. (Disclaimer: the arcade cabinet is not original and has already been modified once. I'm not looking to hack up what would be an otherwise functional arcade cabinet.)
The monitor is the cabinet is a crt DELL M922. It has a power cable and a vga cable. When attached to a Dell computer it functions perfectly.
I bought a Composite to VGA converter on Amazon. When I hook everything up, I get vertically scrolling rainbow colored horizontal lines across my screen scrolling upward from bottom to top.
The monitor works when attached to a computer. The nes toaster works when Composite out to a crt television.
Im assuming the converter is junk?
Any suggestions?

Sounds like you converter does not like the 15hz vertical sync that the NES uses
Do you think a different converter might be able to handle the 15hz vertical sync?
