HDMI switcher suddenly not working with Wii U @ 480p resolution
I ran into this issue last night: I decided to hop over to the Wii channel on my Wii U. When I did, my HDTV suddenly went dark and returned an "Invalid format" error. I then went into the Wii U settings and tried setting the console to output at 480p; same error as before. This issue only happens when my Wii U is routed through my Kinivo HDMI switcher. When I plug the Wii U directly into my HDTV it detects and outputs 480p just fine. This only happens with 480p resolution, 1080p/720p output fine when routed through the switcher.
I don't get much use out of my Wii U anymore so I don't know how long this has been a problem, but I've played plenty of Wii games on my Wii U with the HDMI switcher, so this always hasn't been a problem. I'm curious if anyone else has run into this issue?

Anything else with a 480p res that you can try on it? I would say use another Wii U, but that's not as easy. Maybe try another TV too to rule everything out.
Glad you got it resolved though.
Some tech can just be touchy. I've got a DVD player that I bought less than 10 years ago (making it not truly old or new in regard to other DVD players) which, if left on/running for too long (and that time is random, no specific timeframe has ever been noted) it will suddenly color shift all output. The menu is normally a couple of shades of blue with some gray mixed in, but it will go orange and yellow and nothing you can do in software will fix it. However, unplugging the unit for a minute or so and then plugging it back up will fix it for the foreseeable future (usually weeks/months or more of usage, but sometimes a couple of days--like I said, it's random). Sounds like you've run into a similar gremlin in your switcher. Just remember the fix and yank the cord for a minute or two the next time it rears its head.
