Question about Famicom and Twin Sharp Famicom
Heya guys! Just a while ago I finally picked up a nice looking Twin Sharp Famicom, but when I plug the power in it the power light just blinks. I've confirmed I have the original power cord it was supposed to come with, but it won't work.
The regular Famicom and disk system need channel 95 and my Insignia flatscreen only goes up to channnel 69. Do I have to use it on another TV that goes to 95 or 96? Perhaps I should just get the thing AV modded or weren't there AV Famicoms?

If it is a CRT, there should be a way to mess around with the settings and add channels to it
There were AV Famicoms, yes. They look kinda like a top loader without the bulge. You need a TV that goes up to channel 95-96, but I believe that only works with CRTs. Could be wrong on that. Regardless, you should be using an NES RF Adapter not the Japanese one, didn't see you mention which you're using so just saying. The AV Famicom and Sharp twinFAMI should work with any TV that has supports NTSC composite. They both have AV composite out but the AV Fami only uses Nintendo Multi-out AV cables (SNES/N64/GameCube cables). Like the SNS-101, it actually requires an RF modulator to do RF at all. It's the same RF modulator Nintendo sold for the N64, only colored to match the AV Fami.
An NES AC Adapter actually outputs AC, so he should not be using a standard NES AC adapter. Most 3rd party NES AC adapters were DC and some probably even had the right polarity (NES accepted both) so that might be where you heard that. I'm pretty sure that the Sharp twinFAMI is the reverse polarity of the Famicom/AV Famicom/MS/model 1 MDGen/TG16PCE, etc, so don't use any of those without checking first!
Do you have a VCR you could hook up to your tv? That would be an option for the Channel 95/96 issue.
Chances are it needs repair regardless. Famicom Disk System is flaky with its belt mechanism.
Regular NES composite cables can be used.
But it'd need an adapter for NES / Famicom RF modulators, or the AV Famicom composite cable.
