  • Can't say that I've seen that before either... very neat.
  • Nice! I remember getting a coupon like that, and it did have an accompanying letter with it, but I don't think it was the same one.

I think the letter explains it perfectly. Thank you for sharing. Nintendo had the market cornered and had a huge market share back then. They settled out of court quick in this case it seems.

  • It's a great piece for sure! There are a few threads here on it.... I can only find this one though:

I know Penguin found something similar years ago and I thought he or Limbofunk had made a thread on it but I can't find it right now. As far as price goes.... hard to say. I'd estimate around $20 give or take a few $5 dollar bills....

Here's the letter I have from Maryland:

  • thanks for all the good information and replies so far in the process of searching for that old thread...thanks! gobble gobble.
  • I had this on my eBay saved searches for a while and saw a few sell. The gift certificate pops up by itself from time to time, but the letter and envelope appear less often. I'd say acidjaguar's assessment is accurate based on what I've seen; I picked one up with the letter and envelope for $15 last year.
  • I learn something new everyday. It is very cool. Thanks for sharing.
  • I got one of those years ago too.
  • I remember getting that letter & coupon as a kid, I wish I saved the letter.
  • What a scam this was.

Nintendo turned a losing lawsuit into a promotion that required the public to go out and buy more games.
  • It is interesting Nintendo paying for something they claimed they didn't do, really cool thanks for sharing!

It may be worth more to trade for another piece of obscure/unclassifiable Nintendo swag rather than putting an actual price on it.
