Original Nintendo AV cables

I need help with organizing the original AV cables that came with the SNES, N64 and Gamecube.  I know the N64 had a grey head (plug).

So my question is what color is the Super Nintendo and Gamecube version?  Or rather what do they look like?  I think the gamecube version is black and the SNES was an aftermarket cable.  Any info or photos would be helpful. thanks.

  • SNES was grey also. Gamecube were black. They were sold separately in stores during the lifespan of all 3 systems, so packaging was updated but there was definitely some overlap. I worked at BestBuy during the Gamecube era and even after we sold out, we kept getting the N64 era cable packaging, so it's not as definitive. But I guess officially SNES & N64 should be grey, Gamecube should be black.

I should also note that once we did get the black Gamecube S-video cables, we were still receiving N64 era packaging RF adapters that had the NES/SNES lettered RF modulator inside.
  • I recently started wondering if late N64s started coming with black ones.

I started buying Funtastic systems recently. These are all second hand, but I noticed I'm getting a lot more black official AV cables.

I think this is definitely a possibility.  I've got plenty of one owner systems with black cables as well, so my guess would be a late N64 switchover date.
